Warning Foregone = Warning Forever Retro browser game

Post by bob »

Just found this at gamejolt:
http://gamejolt.com/online/games/shoote ... gone/2794/

As the title already said. It's a 'remake' of Warning Forerver with retro looks playable in a browser.
I think the conversion went really good and for a browser game it's awesome.

Now I don't have to play crappy browser games when I'm at wor.... away from home I mean ;)
My first crappy score 495.775

Enjoy!

Nice little game here but man I dislike the controls. I should say more accurately that I SUCK using the controls  . Nice find though! :)

Man, is it FAST. Feels like Psikyo rather than Raizing, except the hitbox is more forgiving than in most Psikyo shmups. I urge everyone to play it about now, as the developer is working on some tweaks which might take away some of its purity.

Oh my god, inertia.
Couldn't stand the controls after 30 seconds.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Hi,
Did you play in manual or auto?
I don't like manual controls, but I thin auto is really easy to catch:
Arrows for directions, one single X key to shoot, hard to be simpler :)
Only thing to get is, when you release X, your gun redirects toward the target automatically

Jakub (the dev) wanted to avoid the use of the mouse to aim at targets while moving with the keyboard
and to avoid to have 4 keys for directions and other 4 keys for the gun directions, he made it simple with one shoot button that redirects when released
How would you make it simpler?

For sure, aiming in a multidirectional or arena style shmup, is harder to consider than in a classic left to right horizontal one where shooting is always straight.
I think Jakub made fine!

What do you think about the other additions (bg music, weapons, bosses and achievements) ?

Aiming isn't a problem [tried both manual and auto modes, good enough]. Shooting isn't a problem. Dodging is. I end up sliding into bullets/not accelerating away from a bullet fast enough. That's literally the only problem I've had with this game, but being able to dodge properly is the core of any shooter.
