Went and saw Disney's Prince of Persia:Sands of Time flick yesterday. Just before they showed the PoP:SoT film, the first trailer was for the upcoming Tron Legacy film (which features different film footage compared to the 2009 Comic-Con film trailer release of TL).
According to this new TL film trailer, it's set twenty years after the events featured in the first Tron flick. With an opening debut date set on December 17th, 2010, it's won't be a summer 2010 release film as originally planned.
The newly re-designed Recognizers, light cycles and a new light car vehicle are shown. The new electroluminescent-backlit bodysuits that the video warriors inside the electronic game world wear look super sharp even when fitted on the female figure form.
The old Flynn's arcade hangout makes a return appearance along with the old Encom computer setup. I like how when Flynn's son inserts a quarter into his dad's old Space Paranoids (SP) arcade game cab and the quarter bounces out of the coin return chute on to the floor. Ain't your average SP arcade game either. The SP cab looks exactly like the classic Bally Midways' Tron cab when it was first released back in 1982 to arcades worldwide.
Should look great in Real-D 3-D format indeed.

It's different to see the new TL trailer played on the big silver screen compared to a home based HDTV 1080p screen setup.

I hate to use the word "epic", but that the only word that comes close to describing seeing it.

God help the folks at Disney if this movie doesn't at least match the first film. There will be a lot of pissed off nerds looking to use their heads as 20-sided dice

Re: Checked out the newest Tron Legacy trailer?
I've been following this since the "leaked" teaser last year. There has been a rather long viral marketing campaign that culminated in a live Encom (fictitious) company kickoff event last month in San Francisco with Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy Morgan. Unfortunately I found out about it the day after
but did manage to score a custom printed Encom employee badge with my name/photo on it. Yes I'm a big geek for this movie, given it was the primary motivation for me to start programming in 1982.
