Astro City monitor not working, thoughts?

Post by drunkninja24 »

I have an Astro City with a Nanao MS9. I've had it vertical for a while and decided to put it horizontal for a while. However, now when I turn the cabinet on, I hear a real high-pitched whine from the monitor for a split-second and then the monitor shuts off. I have to then turn off the cab, wait a few minutes for the circuitry or whatever to reset (I can tell it's ready to turn on again when I hear another brief sound from the monitor after everything is turned off) to try again. All this happened right after I rotated, so the only thing I can think is that it's shorting out somewhere. I've looked around and can't imagine where though. It does this whether or not a PCB is plugged in.

Also, one thing I noticed now was that, with a PCB in, I get a very narrow horizontal picture for just a second before the monitor shuts off. Still leads me to believe something got jarred around when I rotated the monitor, but I have no idea what.

Check the connection to the control adjustments board under the panel (both at the board end and at the chassis end) to make sure both fully plugged in. Also make sure the neckboard on the tube is firmly pressed in (only do this while cabinet is turned off of course!)

I've made sure the neckboard is on, but I didn't check the control board connection, I'll take a look once I get home.

Alright, found a wire that had been split on the cable to the control board, reconnected it and voila!
