Post by captain ahar »

are there any good ports of Xevious (with tate please)? Super?

I have no sig whatsoever.

Xevious 3D+G (Playstation) has Super Xevious as I recall, and also a Xevious Arrangement which I think might have been that Namco arcade version you linked to.

It has regular Xevious as well, the same Arrangement mode, and plenty of tate to go around.

Yeah, you can pick this up super cheap on EBay. I think I got it for about $5 a couple months ago. It's hard to find just at your local EB Games or whatever.

The US release has multiple tate modes and the gameplay intact, so it's far from butchered, though.

And also the Japanese version is more expensive and harder to find (I paid $66 for the Japanese release :?, sealed and new though :)).

Yeah, the JP release is quite valuable. If they're totally the same games (not sure, I don't have it - and I'm not sure how much the afforementioned lack of unlimited continues in one version might bother you), I'd go with the US one so long as you can find a copy in good shape.

Well, just out of curiosity

Xevious has a port for the Atari 2600, which obviously is eons away from the arcade one.

And there's a port for the MSX, which was developed by Compile (Or I have been told, I am not sure about this), and it is excellent. They've the original arcade game and a new mode where you can have bigger weapons...

Well, if you don't look for straight arcade ports, there's a NES Xevious that is an excellent version, and sold like a million. It was an instant hit and no wonder it was selected to be part of the GBA famicom mini / nes classic series.
Famicom import only is also Super Xevious - Gamp no Nazo, that is a quite interesting game and entirely different from Super Xevious arcade.

Xevious is also on PC Engine. The MSX/PC Engine sequels are indeed by compile. And they rock.

In other words, it's plenty of xeviouses to play out there.

I believe there's a freeplay code for the NA 3D/G; not sure about the other games on the disc. I only ever play one credit anyway. :P

There's a very good port of Xevious on the 7800. It's not as good as the NES version or many of the more recent ones, but it's still a darn good port. Xevious is also in that Ms. Pac-Man Joystick.

"Xevious" is freatured in PSOne "Namco Museum Vol. 2". As far as I can remember, it can be played in Tate mode. :D

The only problem is you have to flip your TV clockwise (not anti-clockwise as usual) when playing in Tate mode.

Changing the oratation of a CRT TV/Monitor may result in it magnetized in the wrong direction as you might already know... (I have one CRT moniter under repair due to this reason.) :(

Is it me or recently gamefaqs is crowded with fake cheat codes? I tried those xevious codes with no result... Maybe they were removed from the pal version, or I just don't understand where exactly input them. Too bad, I wanted to see Heihachi, Paul and the black ship.

About credits, yeah, I guess it sounds irrelevant to 1ccs followers, but It really annoys me when they alter the original setups. Stupid way to artificially increase challenge.

And it comes with Gaplus, one of the few games Namco didn't release again and again in their museums, and definitely worth checking.

They work on the NA version. The catch with Heihachi code is that you have to keep holding the buttons for a bit after the game actually starts.

Help guys, someone with the PAL version of Xevious 3D/G+ managed to input these codes correctly? Be nice, take it out from the shelf and try. ^_^

True. I doubt it would have TATE mode though, and you have to get silver medals on all ten levels to unlock it.

Yeah, Famicom Super Xevious is graphically amazing, considering the hardware, and TONS of fun. And Xevious on the PCE should be a no-brainer purchase for ANY PCE owner-you can really see the Compile elements in the gameplay, and it does indeed rock! :D
