About Hori Xbox 360 RAPFS and Turbo function on a stick.

Post by mcn »

Hi and please excuse my bad english.

RAPFS stands for Real Arcade Pro Fighting Stick.

I want that stick to play on my PC and Xbox 360. Are there better options? I have read on the cons of a review that there is a "Lack of a turbo option for SHUMP players". What is this turbo option and how can I exploit it to improve my gameplay?

If there is an option as good as (or may be better than) HRAP EX and with turbo option I will buy that. If not, do you recommend me this stick or another one?

Note: I have been playing last months with my keyboard on PC. One day I tried to use the Xbox 360 pad and it was terrible. I configured the sensibility and other options but it was still very bad. When playing shumps, the ship moves brusquely, and I don't have the same precision as when playing with the keyboard. Don't get me wrong, I only have problems when playing maniac shooters and when the screen is full of bullets. But still annoying... I will have the same problem with this arcade sticks?

Thanks a lot.

Edit: I forgot to tell you that I have a PAL Xbox 360. Neither Xbox 360 Japan nor Xbox 360 US.

Turbo refers to what is essential rapid fire. The turbo function on a stick rapidly repeats the button you're holding down. Say for example when you push A you fire one shot. With turbo you'll fire a continuous stream.

On some shmups this can make life easier.

As for sticks the HRAP EX-SE seems to be the most popular around here. It's very precise and should greatly improve the accuracy of your movements.

One thing to note about the HRAP EX or EX-SE is that it lacks a turbo function. If you want a 360 stick that has that, get any of the MadCatz sticks, though I would recommend replacing the joysticks in those with a Seimitsu LS-32 (actually really simple to do, the stick is designed so that replacement parts are simply drop-in and use, no soldering or tools required outside of a screwdriver).

Many thanks guys!

Two more questions:

1. Where can I buy the Sanwa buttons or a Seimitsu LS-32?
2. Can I configure things such as sensibility when playing on my PC? If so, will I need some especific applications?

You can get an LS-32 from here: http://www.arcadeshop.de/Joysticks-LS-3 ... u_739.html
They stock Sanwa buttons as well (though if you get the MadCatz TE stick, it comes with Sanwa buttons stock).

As far as sensitivity goes, the buttons and stick are all digital, so there's no sensitivity or anything to be configured. Either the switches are flipped or they aren't.

I haven't ordered from them but http://www.akihabarashop.jp/ seems to have very good prices if you can justify the shipping.

Yes, they are very good as well. I have ordered with them several times in the past. Also, with shipping, it still usually comes out to about the same (or sometimes cheaper) than other stores since they get their stuff straight from the factories in Japan.

That's actually quite reassuring. I'm building a custom cab in June-ish and wanted some verification before i dumped ¥31,200 on an order.
