Hero Core: action-adventure shmup type

Post by Square King »

Looks like a cross between an ancient hori shmup that might call Amiga home added with a dash of Metroidesque action. Also, awesome soundtrack if you're into chiptunes.

Or just "Section Z meets Metroid". ;)

I was a big fan of the first game and was refreshing Hero Core's page on the release day every so often. Played through it (Normal, Hard and Annihilation) in quick fashion. Very cool game.

I like the aesthetics, but the non-linear thing isn't very good. You can just skip most of the enemies/stages/stuff by just hovering past them hassle free, doesn't seem like it has very good level design.

some of the enemies are not actually worth fighting due to the cost of damage they give, so I can allow this to slide. ESPECIALLY in the later sections where they just get assholish.

Decided to try it out and couldn't stop until I beat normal mode (took me an hour). Kickass game 8)

Looking forward to beat hard and annihilation modes.

Pretty enjoyable game. The music is nice, and the annihilation mode boss is definitely worth seeing.

Looks like fun, you should check out the upcoming Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet for xbla. I'd do the link thingy, but I'm having pc problems.

Very cool, seems like Metroid meets Bangai-O or something. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the B&W, but it doesn't bother me.

I'm watching this one closely, too. Really digging what I've seen so far.

Great game. The bosses are kind of Gradius-esque and I like the Metroid like exploration.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Cybernoid! Looks like it's cut from very similar cloth. I'll have to get stuck into this at the weekend. :)

Not sure how I've missed this one. I'm actually really digging the black/white sprite work and the tunes are great. Definitely one to explore this weekend!
