MadCatz TE sticks (I've only used the SF4 ones- but I have no reason to believe the others will be bad?) are just awesome. If you're lucky you can get a nice used one for around $100. Other than the cheap little door in the back on the SF4 ones- I have no issues at all with mine.

Friendly heads up. Both sticks mentioned are awesome for shmupping and beyond and both have universal mounting brackets.
Hori Xbox 360 joysticks are not common-ground though, so switching to a joystick with a 5 pin pcb will require some modding or buying separate micro switches. This also makes dual modding unpossible.
The HRAP EX (not SE) does not have a universal bracket, so if you're looking for a case for a Seimitsu, don't buy this. JLF though, go for it, just buy new buttons.
I replaced the stick in my TE with an LS-32, and the buttons in my EX SE with Sanwa snap ins. After that they play about the same sans button layout. IMO Seimitsu stick and Sanwa buttons is the winning combination.
