FAO: Fudoh (or anyone else who's used a DVDO EDGE) :)

Firstly, thanks Fudoh for the awesome deinterlacing/scanline guides - probably would never be thinking of taking the plunge on a £400 videoprocessor, had it not been for everything I learnt from your blog :D

Basically, though, I'm looking at getting a DVDO EDGE to pair with a new panel (having, by the looks of it, finally found a decent IPS panel with minimal lag). Problem is, the panel's native resolution is 1680x1050 (WSXGA+). Would have preferred something that could do 1080p, but I guess I shouldn't complain :P

Anyway, probably a straight forward question - but can the EDGE output at 1680x1050 60hz??

The online manual mentions WSXGA, so fingers crossed it can do WSXGA+, as well...

The Edge will output every resolution *AS LONG AS YOUR DISPLAY RESPORTS IT VIA IT'S EDID*. For some reason ABT/DVDO has restricted the manually chooseable options to the basic HD resolutions plus stuff like VGA and XGA. Nevertheless the Edge's processor reads the monitor's EDID and sets itself to the native resolution.

By now most displays report their native resolution correctly, but their's no 100% guarantee until you try. This said, in essence, the answer is: yes, the Edge can output 1680x1050@60z, but if it doesn't the display's to blame.
