Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Post by UnscathedFlyingObject »

I can't wait to see what characters they'll throw in since that will basically dictate whether I love the game or just like it. So far, the only new character is Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, but I hope they throw in Mega Man X and Zero/Sigma, Gene from God Hand, Dante and Vergil, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, and someone from Phoenix Wright for kicks and laughs.

As for the Marvel side, I'm not a big Marvel fan, so they may do as they wish.

With the tech they have I dont get why they dont do a proper Capcom Jam this time around. For the last two years seems capcom has been going from strength to strength. Ono wants to make a darkstalkers game but I say fuck that lets get strait to a Capcom Jam fuck the whole everyone has a difrent fight system and make it so there is either one set standard system or three systems which all the players can use. Make it 2D/3D if you want I so want this game!

Yeah, why haven't they made a fighting game with just Capcom characters? They have a stable big enough and we would get more obscure characters. I guess it'd be a hard one to sell if it was next to the one that is a crossover with Marvel, though.

Godot FTW.

And Gene and Zero are also must haves. I can only assume Dante's a given.

Capcom is pretty much untouchable right now for overall quality of games on the whole.

They do good stuff, but they haven't done anything great in quite a few years now - I miss that. They are one of the elite few Japanese publishers whose quality hasn't dropped off a cliff and into a sewer though.

I hope they don't forget to put in some batshit character selections. The revealed roster (including sillhouettes) looks pretty 'straight' compared to MvC2, and the overall art style suggests a more 'serious' tone.

"official" trailer ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoaOBDvB ... ID8ahlDHS0

my vote for characters goes towards gene and his bad ass roulette that could use 1, 2, or 3 super meters! also more darkstalkers characters and hopefully at least 2 final fight and 2 rival schools characters.

Oh, and capcom...you had better not put roll in this one too. who the hell let's shit like that happen. there's so many better choices

Official it is but a trailer for a videogame it is not. The quotation marks would better be positioned in the word "trailer."

I think it's time a little God Hand was thrown in the mix. And ditch Roll for the little dog from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure.

I like how the Resident Evil guy is thrown in like we're supposed to go "OH SHIT, IT'S HIM!" when he's just another white guy with a gun. At least throw in Dante as he's the closest thing to a memorable character Capcom has made since the arcade days.

dante is just another white kid with a sword.

MORE GODHAND!!!!

edit: seems Poison is in the current lead on the poll...I'm pretty surprised she beat out jill and cammy. but, she does have something they both don't

I should have voted for Poison but chose Alex instead. Figured Captain Commando and Mega Man are shoo-ins.
dante is just another white kid with a sword.
Sure he's boring compared to anything in Battle Circuit but for post-2000 he's considered interesting.

I'd say Alex is close to a shoo-in too. He has a 3D model/moveset from TvC - all they have to do is spruce it up. That's what they'll be doing with Frank West, who is basically confirmed.

It's pretty clear from MVC2 sales that this is the game the general public wanted to play. I'm sure they want to make a Capcom-only fighter eventually but first things first.

Anyway, I can't believe Poison is leading that poll by far... I guess it wouldn't be too bad. Alternate costume might even be interesting.

My vote goes to God Hand's Gene as well. And I know we already got him in TvC, but I would love to see Viewtiful Joe in this as well.

We already know the game will have 30 characters, so I'll assume 15 character for the Capcom side.

Officially announced
1 - Ryu
2 - Morrigan
3 - Chris Redfield

My wish-list
4- Mega Man X: a MM character is certain to appear, but my vote goes to X. He hasn't appeared in any fighting game and is my favorite MM character. Chances are that the original Mega Man will appear, tho.
5 - Zero or Sigma: Zero is like perfect to partner up with X. Sigma is OK too since he's X's nemesis.
6 - Gene: one of my all-time favorite Capcom characters. It almost makes too much sense to include him because of his amazing fighting prowess.
7 - Strider: ninjas are cool and Strider is one of the coolest. Almost always in my team when playing MvC2.
8 - Nemesis: my favorite RE monster. It troubles me that he wouldn't be able to face off against Jill, tho . His chances of appearing are nil since Chris is in, so it'd make more sense to include Wesker.
9 - Dante: he's almost certain to appear and that delights me. I'd prefer the original Dante from the first DMC, tho.
10 - Vergil: makes a good combo with Dante and I like him a lot.
11 - Ryu (Breath of Fire): could be any Ryu, but I like the one from parts 3 and 4 the most. The guy turns into DRAGONS. How awesome is that.
12 - Amaterasu - a goddess wolf thing that attacks with art? And who wouldn't want to see more color in the game. It looks drab so far.
13 - Someone from Phoenix Wright: anyone, really. No OBJECTION!, right?
14 - Zack and Wiki - the game is looking too serious. We need some fun characters!
15 - I can't think of anything specific right now, but how about someone from Monster Hunter, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, or Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe?

Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind a console exclusive character either. I'd like Kratos for the PS3 version!

I really wanna see Nobunaga and Samanosuke from the Onimusha series in this along with The magic user and Cleric from the Dungeons and Dragons series (wishful thinking with the licence issues)

^^^Hell yes. The mage from Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara has always been one of my favorite Capcom character designs. While we are dreaming let me nominate Linn Kurosawa from Alien vs. Predator as well. 8)

I'd prefer Katt, Bleu, Rand or Garr myself, but yeah, I'm rather surprised that BoF hasn't made it into a Vs. game yet in some form. Of course, I wouldn't say no to a bit more Rival Schools either - Akira and Zaki are my personal favorites.

I think Arthur could use another go. He was in MVC1, but I think he could be a great mini Dr. Doom type char. Would love to have some top tier mini characters.

I dunno. While they haven't necessarily been doing anything that's up my alley, their titles over the past, what, three years (?) have been pretty top-of-the-line. Street Fighter IV has been pretty well-received across the board, Lost Planet did very well critically and commercially, Dead Rising was basically the same story...in addition to the Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry, etc. I'm not sure that I can agree with you, here. They do quite a bit, and most of what they do is of high quality, even if it isn't for me.

BTW, for me? Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins was fantastic.

Oh you guys knew id pop my head in for this one :)

It will never happen but id love to see Michelle Heart from legendary Wings as a playable character. Im a sucker for the obscure. The Arthur idea is great too & it would be sweet if you could switch to his Cannon Spike incarnation. Firebrand would be a spectacular addition as well but id prefer him to look like his cute sprite from Gargoyle's Quest. I also agree that Nemesis should be in there as he is loved all around and could have some badass attacks.

I don't think we disagree overall, because I do still think they're a top-tier publisher, but most of their stuff (apart from UG&G) has seen a drop in quality - I don't think anybody will argue that DMC4 or RE5 were better than their predecessors, and I don't consider SFIV a patch on SFIII. Plus last gen they introduced a ton of new stuff that left a big impression (Steel Battallion, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, Okami, Killer 7, Phoenix Wright, Onimusha, Monster Hunter) or did something amazing with their old properties (Resident Evil 4/remake, Breath of Fire V). Nothing they've done this time out has topped what they've done in the past, and they've done very little interesting that's new apart from the excellent Dead Rising.
They're still way better than the jokes that Square_Enix, Konami, Namco and Sega have become but I think they've fallen nearly as far - it's just not as noticeable because they were always better than those companies.
