Anyone catch that wack ass Bernard Hopkins/Roy Jones fight?

Post by Never_Scurred »

I hope non of y'all PAID to see that shit.
The ref should have gotten the title since he worked harder than both those old ass simps.
This fight was so booty, I *almost* gave back the money I won on B Hop's elderly academy award winning sissy fighting ass.
I hope Mayweather eats his ass up.

With the way boxing has been over recent years it isn't too much of a stretch that most people have lost interest.

Too many weight classes, too many belts, greedy promoters, boring decisions, and the matches people really want to see aren't happening.

Mayweather and Pacquiao need to get their issues resolved and fight, though with Mayweather's track record that fight would probably be boring too.

I enjoy it. The most recent fight I watched was David Haye vs Valuev for the title. Not a great fight. Haye was great with his tactics, but far too defensive - if it was on an America scoring system I think he would have lost. Still, if he truly broke his hand in the 3rd round, I can forgive him.

I'm not sure he's proven himself yet though, I've seen him fight before and the guy can throw punches but can't take em.

Ah, I wondered how it went. I didn't get the chance to see it but at least now I know I didn't missed much. Even the way they were marketing it was kinda lame..."The 17 year grudge settled!" aka. two past-their-prime fighters decide to stop being pussies and throw up fisticuffs. *Yawn*

It was funny how Hopkins hired a lounge singer to walk with him to the ring. And He also had Divas singing backup vocals. That was more entertaining then the fight itself.

But I thought B Hop put up a much better fight then Jones. He deserved that win imo

I watch boxing. I didn't watch this one, because I know how washed up Jones is.

nah, I haven't bought a PPV event (boxing) in quite some time. There's really nothing exciting going on in any weight-class.

I love boxing, but haven't seen a fight in about a year.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Haven't cared about boxing in a long time. It's just not remotely exciting anymore to see guys ONLY punching each other, when I can watch MMA and the fighters have so many more options at their disposal, and so much more can happen during a fight. While high-level boxing is pretty great to watch, e.g. Ali's old fights, or Jones in his prime, or Ray Leonard or any other of the greats, that era of boxing just seems dead to me. I'd much rather see really high-level jiujitsu guys going at it on the ground or a top striker like Anderson Silva going up against a top wrestler and not knowing what will happen (ok, with Silva you pretty much do, but you get my point :D )

Well, I can't argue with any of you guy's opinions since you all hit the nail square on the head in regards to the current state of boxing.
As far as MMA is concerned though, I prefer the old days of MMA when the differing styles were much more pronounced (ex. Gracie jiu jitsu or kickboxing vs. greco-roman wrestling or pancrase). Nowadays, its a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none approach as far I see it.

MMA does have its own share of boring fights and champions, to be fair *coughGSPcough*

If they put Mayweather and Pacquiao in the ring and the match is made, I'll pony up the PPV $ for the first time in a long time.

i doubt mayweather and pac will ever happen I think mayweather throwing accusations of performance enhancing drugs/abuse on pacmans part tells me he doesnt really want to fight him. Its the same with pacman who recently was quoted as saying his mother wants him to stop boxing as she is very ill and gets in a very worried state eveytime he steps into the ring, ultimately i think its all about $...if they can come up with the right amount of dosh this fight will happen why? because everyone on the planet wants to see it!

As far as MMA goes it is the future, I've been watching for a long time and im sad that the UFC and Strikeforce are leading the way in televising the fights...the good old days of Pride FC where grudges were made, rivalries formed and seeing some of the most brutal knockouts happen really satisfied anyone who ordered the PPV's all the fighters were phenominal plus I really miss the drama it was a sad way to die out.

But yea I do agree GeorgeNeverFinishAFightSaintPierre has begun to get the critics out, i personally felt he dominated Hardy quite well, I was honestly rooting for hardy since he is home grown talent but I knew gsp would win I believe Dan gained alot of respect from everyone and made new fans with his tenacity I honestly thought he was going to go home with a broken arm, George was really cranking that thing! but Dan just wouldnt tap fair play and what a soldier. I personally believe his stand up is good and maybe even better than GSP's but I guess when your takedown defense isnt up to the standard you pay for it and will get pounded out or subbed.
