Bmd Intensity Pro ear destroying beep on green

Post by ZOM »

Maybe there are better forums out there for this specific problem, but it won't hurt asking here first:

So, I have my PS3 connected to an Intensity Pro through component, and the HDMI out back to a SAMSUNG LCD TV. Audio is handled separatley through my soundcard.
The problem now is that I get a very loud constant beep from my TV as soon as I connect the Y cable. It's not that much of a problem because my TV is on internal mute and like already mentioned, the PS3's audio goes to my soundcard so capturing audio is just fine, but I still wonder why that is and since I'm planning on getting a deckLink Studio I wouldn't be too happy if the issue is still there.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a BMD Multibridge and can't say that I've ever encountered this. On the other hand the BMD surely mixes an audio signal onto the video signal, even if no source is attached. This might eventually cause the problem.

May I ask why you use your soundcard for audio capture ? This can cause sync delays when capturing video since you're two capture devices are running on different clocks.

Actually, I'm just doing the audio separate since this problem popped up, means, since yesterday :).
Another reason for this is that I streamed a bit on Justin TV yesterday and the tool I'm using (VidBlaster) won't recognize the Intensity's audio driver for some strange reason (I've been told that rolling back the driver to 2.04 works though)
Which brings us to something I forgot to mention, the annoying beep is still there if I feed the audio through the Intensity, playing both, the constant beep and the input source's audio channels at the same time. It's very strange.

Also, I can pretty much rule out any cables & TVs, since I hear the beep not only on my TV but also already in Media Express, Virtual Dub's capture mode, etc.
I think my next step is to try and rollback to driver 3.4 again... or something even older and see if the problem persists.

Anyways, thanks for the quick reply. If you have any other ideas please tell. :)

EDIT: OK, after installing the older drivers the problem is solved. YAY.
