Most likely a prank, yeah. Edesweiss has released small parody versions of their games before. Also this "trial version" is nothing but one of the boss characters from Ether Vapor talking and then you can either set off some explosions with button 2 or exit with button 1.
Still, it'd be interesting to know what he says. Anybody care to translate?

From today up until tomorrow do not believe anything from most doujin devs at all. They'll most likely joke around with the stupid April's Fool stuff.
Edelweiss already did it with Ether Viper, which eventually became the boss rush mode that showed up in the latest patches. (or something along those lines)
The next, real, official release is a 3D platform/hack 'n' slash or whatever the genre, called Fairy Bloom Freesia. Looks damn pretty by the way and it has an updated trial available.
edit: and let's not forget "Pedo Bear Empty" last year, a joke with Diadra Empty where you can play the game as Pedo Bear... The funny thing is that it has its own mechanics and is pure, unadulterated LSD material.
I'm just glad Yotsubane didn't show up to promote an "earlier" release of Crimzon Clover or something like that.

The creator of Alternative Sphere is "releasing" a game called "Twins Alternative", classified for LOLI 14. Seems the April Fool's Joke is elaborate as hell because the file is freaking 118mb!
edit: it's a joke with the game's trial. You can put up to 64x64 screens... I played with a 2x2. Yes, action plays in four smaller screens at once. Fucking surreal yet for some reason interesting, it's proving the game has more than enough firepower to allow two/four player co-ops! The ideas, the possibilities...
Then you have the creators of Melty Blood mocking SNK with King of Fighters: "Melty Blook Sky Stage". Yes, a shooter with them. You know what's the worst thing? I can see this happening. And the screens look better than the real Sky Stage. Not like that Bayonetta done the Raizing way (which might eventually happen too, heh) but still nice.
And something about Trouble Witches that I don't want to know what it says.
