There's Chasing Ghosts, which is just backstories and reunitings of some of the high scorers of that era.

Yeah, Chasing Ghosts was shown in it's entirety at the 2009 California Extreme classic & modern-day arcade/pinball show/sale...worth watching to see some of the all-time greats discuss about their WR scores on the classic early 1980s arcade games. A fellow shmupper said that he was able to d/l this cool arcade game documentary in 720p HD format. It was released in standard definition DVD 480i/p format as well. I saw that it was presented in it's entirety on the Showtime2 cable channel and recorded it for posterity on DVD-R format back in July of 2009.
I personally saw Billy Mitchell (along famed Twin Galaxies referee Walter Day) at the 2004 Classic Gaming Expo doing some attempted WR score runs on an original Donkey Kong cabinet. Definitely a very tall dude in person. This gaming expo was the same year that Konami USA had a cool Gradius V contest with Walter Day saying the highest score from that particular shmup contest would get his or her name + score published in the next edition of the Twin Galaxies World Records book. Some cool Gradius V related prizes were given away to the top three scorers of this contest as well.
There is also the cool pinball documentary by the name of "Tilt: The Battle to Save Pinball" by Greg Maletic that was shown in it's entirety at the 2007 California Extreme show with an informative Q&A session following it. Very interesting pinball stuff indeed. Plus it's a two DVD set and worth every cent indeed. Even shows some very rare Williams promotional videos regarding it's Pinball 2000 series of pinball games + some other cool Williams pinball prototypes never released.

lol, the Donkey Kong grudge match just keeps heating up, Billy Mitchell will be spitting feathers, dastardly planning his next move while twiddling his moustache, no doubt

HAHA this is hilarious, I knew surgery and classic video games had a lot in common. I just saw King of Kong a month or so back and loved it, damn I hope they make a sequel!
Supposedly there is a decent doc about WoW players, haven't seen it yet and I don't know the name of it off hand, but it does show and talk about "gold farms" in asia.... so it must be good (for those of you who don't know, gold farms are basically sweat-shops where rather than make Nike shoes, kids farm for gold in WoW).

Second Skin? If that's what you're talking about, yeah, it's alright. It's not as entertaining as King of Kong, though.chempop wrote:Supposedly there is a decent doc about WoW players, haven't seen it yet and I don't know the name of it off hand, but it does show and talk about "gold farms" in asia.... so it must be good

I haven't seen it yet, but "Frag" (2008) is about the seedy underbelly of professional FPS playing and looks pretty interesting.

Second Skin lacks the interesting sense of narrative and does nothing to create sympathy with its subjects. I hated everyone in it pretty thoroughly by the end of the film.
