Revenge of Bari-Arm SEGA CD...

Post by ST Dragon »

I was playing Bari-Arm the other night, seeing as I don't have any new shooters to try out, I thought I should give this a try.
The gameplay & weapons are pretty ok & the mecha bosses are every well animated for the SEGA CD. Overall graphics are nice & colourful but it seems that they've ripped-off a lot of sprites & level backgrounds from the Thunder Force series.
The music is very unsuitable for a Shooter imo. It just doesn't sound right.

I reached up to the 5th level Boss, but I couldn't beat him. Thankfully the level is short. It's not that I can't avoid his attacks, but it takes ages to kill him, I get tired after 5-7 minutes of continues dodging & shooting & get shot down. So what's the most effective weapon against that bastid?

I tried the red homing missiles, & blue explosive missiles, but had utterly no effect. I didn't try the orange Vulcan cannon. The Green Lasers might have been more effective but got bored & didn’t try it out any more. Can somebody confirm this?

Need some help.
Thanks in advance.

The soundtrack is practically a copy of Gate of Thunders. Are you saying cheesy rock soundtracks don't fit cheesy early 90s shooters? Unfathomable.

No I'm saying that personally I didn't like the music (neither GOT) & gets annoying after some time. It would have fitted better on another genre, maybe platform.

Perfectly suited soundtracks for their respective games imo:

Axelay
Gaiares
Gynoug
Lords of Thunder
R-Type II
Thunder Force III
Thunder Force V
Parodius Series

I was playing this a couple days ago and would like to know this as well - I almost always have lost of trouble w/ the level 5 boss. I usually opt for the homing missile weapon, but that may not be as effective against him, considering most of his projectiles are targeted by the homing missiles. In any event, does anyone have suggestions on how to beat this boss?

the only bad thing about bari-arm is how long it takes to take off.

There's no accounting for taste. The soundtrack is excellent and Stage 7's track is brilliant. Too bad it's not polka though, huh?

I thought it already became very cool at the elevator part of Stage 2.

Maybe I just like elevator sections in my shooters.

I agree with Nemo. Bari-Arm's music is incredible! The last level and the dragon boss tracks in particular are perfect.
