Any way to use a 360 controller with a PS3?

Post by Etrian »

I love the 360's analog sticks but I can't stand the PS3's ones for personal reasons. Sadly Microsoft have locked their controllers to only be recognized on PC and 360... is there a way of using it on the PS3? Some sort of adapter out there maybe?

Thanks in advance.

Personal to a lot of people Etrian, they suck terribly.

Afaik though it's impossible to do unfortunately. :(

Could always sell up and swap your machines though, that would solve the problem.

What is it you don't like about the PS3 controller? Not used one so dunno.

Form factor of PS3 pad is a bit smaller than a 360 pad - you could attempt a guts swap maybe?

If you've ever used a dual shock before on any Playstation then you'll be aware of the problem - the thumbsticks are weak.

He was talking about the 360's analogue sticks, as mentioned in the original post. They are undoubtedly superior to that of the PS3's, as is the overall shape and design. The 360's dpad sucks, but the rest of it is perfectly fine.

Anyway Etrian, I don't think it's possible, sorry.

Mayflash apparently made a converter, but the only places I can find selling it are shops I've never heard of that want $50 for it (it is a legitimately expensive problem compared to most controller converters, since it needs a USB host and not just a USB device).

I just bought my first stick for the 360 (for Mushi), and would love to be able to switch it over to the ps3 as well... Has anyone tried these Mayflash converters?

Sorry for double-post...
Has anyone tried the XCM converter?
Its 50 bucks and can convert a wired controller.

There's a GAF thread about it here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=344678
A very positive review here: http://www.loadingreality.com/Multiple- ... n-PS3.html
And you can buy it from PA!: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zq- ... -36sx.html

I wonder if it has any lag... If I could use my stick on the PS3 I'd be so stoked...

Edit: its currently out of stock from PA.

Mayflash have some voodoo shit going on. They managed to make an arcade stick with a lagless pcb. I have their Joybox Pro, which is lagless as well. Someone needs to take a chance and try out that XCM adapter.

It won't be me though. I already tried out the XFPS and it was awful.
