First things first: I suggest that you'll use a different site to upload your pics (i.e. tinypic.com). Secondly, you should save those screenshots as png or gif, jpeg just butchers the quality. And it wouldn't really hurt if you told what this game is actually about.

But what I can tell from the pics? Well, the graphics have really hasty feel to them. Enemies and backgrounds look bland. Also, why HUD is so near the center of the screen?

Yeah, the graphics really look rushed, but I hope that it'll be fixed before the release 8)
The biggest question that I have - are those green guys from the 2nd screenshot the options?

BTW, I'd recommend ImageShack as the image uploader

Do they REALLY look that bad, because I put a HELL of alot of effort into those sprites....or maybe it's the jpg? :?

btw, it's supposed to be a PC-Engine graphics-style, sorry if u were expecting CAVE-ish HD stuff :|

on top of that, various things are animated, so it looks a lot better in action.

No no, I didn't say that they are bad. :o I just meant that they should be a bit more polished. For example, for them to look more PC Engine'ish, I'd advise increasing the pixel size for sprites and recoloring them in more contrast way (add more red, for example)

Hehe, I never said I don't like vaginas
Back in time (2000) we were really into R-Type, Last Resort and Pulstar.
Today I prefer Seibu, Raizzing, Psikyo, Cave and I absolutely hate restart points

Agreed. I'd say pick a nice, standard low(er) resolution and stick with it. :)

1.) I did an animated intro.

2.)YOU try coming up with a better name, besides I used to own a hamster.

3.)Hmm...Might change this, normally when I'm doing outerspace BG's in TGF, I choose a lighter color than pure black so I can see the frame boarder.

4.)THe first mini-boss.

Of course not why would I imply such a thing about an upcoming smash hit

"Of course not why would I imply such a thing about an upcoming smash hit"

Wouldn't call it a smash-hit, still workin' on the first stage...

Right now I'm working on the stage-end boss, a starfighter akin to your craft, only armed with 3 boss-weapon parts(which are destructable).

Any suggestions on what kind of weapons a first stage boss should come equiped with?

Trolling and sarcastic comments aside, I can clearly see you have a lot of enthusiasm for making your own shmup. It's true that the sprites don't look too high-quality, but you just need some practice. For example, you could make such things as the ship and shurikens to look more symmetric, and the idea about a lower resolution and more contrast in the colors was also good.

Keep it up, man. Me and Ebbo looking forward to your game(s).
If watching the trailer of the game
makes you feel a certain way
I would be very happy if
you would give the game a try

Aw, thank guys...

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure what type of weapons the first boss should use...I'm open to suggestion.

Most PC Engine bosses rely on physical attacks more than projectiles (ex. Spriggan). Then subsequent bosses can be made less punching and more shooting

Well, remember the 'I'll be back' guy from Soldier Blade. On one of the stages he grows hands that are harder to avoid than bullets

Uh huh, and also there's a sequel to it, made by Cave. It's the only game that was included in MAME support list right after the release, and with it Cave once again revolutionized the genre by creating a new following - 'SHIT HELL'. I hope that the next Touhou will be following it...
