Cave's petition for release of Region-free games

Post by Jimjuku »

Hi everybody,

we are actually writing an e-mail to CAVE asking them to go on with their policy of region-free games release since thay have started it with Mushihimesama Futari on the Xbox360 a few weeks ago. As you all know, Espgaluda 2 Black Label as well as Ketsui will be released on the Microsoft console this year. To strenghten our request we are asking to every shmup player to "sign" this petition in order to allow us to send Cave this e-mail (of course in Japanese, not in French nor English) with the maximum signatures leaved on the topic.

link to the Cave's petition topic (in french) where you can sign : http://forum.shmup.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... &sk=t&sd=a

link to the Cave's petition : http://forum.shmup.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11981

Please, if you wanna participate to this petition, kindly only leave on this topic your pseudonym / city and country

A Facebook page have also been created for the ones who wanna join us :

Thank you in advance.

As you can see, almost 20 different countries all over the world have joined us !!!

Sure ill take part but you dont think im daft enough to include my real personal info do you?

Why are you asking for such infomation anyway? ive never siged a online pertition b4 but asking for such details just smells fishy. If you really want lots of ppl to sign the thing i would start a new pertion, one that dosnt ask for stuff like date of birth

You do know you're probably too late for both Espgaluda 2 and Ketsui? Not wanting to piss on your chips or anything..

I still think it worth pestering cave to show that folk outside japan want their games, even if those 2 titles pass us by.

There might still be hope... It could be a late (something quite usual) PC re-release of Death Smiles, Espgaluda II & Co. ("Cave Shooting Pack" or something like that anyone?) It might be late for the 360 but it could also mean the end of the region lock tragedy, console drama and such. It might possibly be a good way of charging outrageous prices a second time for L.E.s with OSTs and dolls and all those goodies! Maybe even more trap characters!

Most doujin devs would probably support the move given the amount of Cave fan games around (Patriot Dark, x.x stuff and more) and the fact that the 360 pad works on the comp.

Come on, you would love to play some brutal KETUI (ported by Cave themselves...) at work then minimise the window to pretend you are actually doing something productive for the company! :P

Obviously, they would need to think a way of milking people even more given the lack of DLC but nothing an expansion disc can't do. As for scoreboards, maybe including a key or something to validate the score+replay. Or Steam for the immaterial and missing powers and achievement-addicts. Plenty of options available...

*And on top of everything: it would interesting to see someone making a patch/mod to take out all the slowdown altogether and force max fps. Ultimate nightmare. I still want to see Mushi Futari lagging one of those thermonuclear PCs that run Crysis or whatever benchmark app at 900 fps.

You know internet petitions never really work, but given CAVE's love of it's fan community and the recent test they conducted with Mushi, I think it's a fair enough cause.

Njiska - Waterloo, Canada.

It's important so they know where their fans are.

Still if this doesn't work I'm prepared. Already pre-ordered Espgaluda II. If it's region free, awesome. If it's not, I buy a Jap 360. End of Story.

the petition probably won't do anything but it can't hurt to ask nicely. i'm gonna order MF pretty soon despite it being a game i am not really that keen on just to support this company and goad them into porting Galuda 2 region-free and perhaps in some far-off dream world, a region-free Ibara port that actually does the game's graphics a bit of justice.

I'd much rather sign a petition for them to port their games to the PS3, the one region-free console and the one that's POPULAR IN JAPAN... really makes no sense that Cave is ignoring it.

It is? More than 360 perhaps, but was the PS3 really that much of a success over there? I thought this gen belongs to the handhelds in Japan.

According to the most recent Cave blog post, they will finish the master ver of Espgaluda II by Friday, and send it to MS. After that they can't change the region code. So you have like 3 days to change their mind. Not going to happen IMO.

Ketsui is by 5pb, and they don't care about foreign buyers. So a petition to them would probably be useless. All their X360 games have been region locked to Japan.

Petitioning CAVE about making Ketsui region free would be even more useless as they are neither developing nor publishing the port. It would be about as effective as petitioning Nintendo to release Final Fantasy XIII on the Wonderswan.

for the principle I suppose since I have a Jpn 360.... but region encoding is the lamest thing in the video game universe for a less than casual gamer.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Hey, give them some credit, I'm pretty sure that magical princess game on the DS was region free.

Already happily did. Bought Mushi, Black Label and that god damn Ver 1.01 card.

Agreed this is the best way to show CAVE.

Bought a j360 and all already. Still would be nice for others who cant afford doing something like that. Sign me up as well.

There are far too many advantages of owning a j360 over a american one though for those who are thinking of buying one.
