I'm on a quest for these Genesis games........

Post by dtdg »

For those of you who are wondering what games I'm questing for, These are the games:

Castlevaina: Bloodlines
Gunstar Heroes
Zoop
Vectorman 2
Sonic 3
Streets of Rage 3
Golden Axe 2 and 3
Is there a Tetris for the Genesis?

So what are you're thoughts on my list?

Also take in consideration, I live in Sullivan,Mo. I've checked the Gamepad. The guy said If he gets any of these games, He'll call me.
I've checked my Flea Market. It only has sports games for the Gen.

I have these games:
Sonic 1,2 and Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Toejam and Earl
Contra: Hard Corps
Steel Empire
Lightening Force 4
RKA 1 &2 (Sparxster)
NHL '96 (Go Nordiques!) (I'm playing as the Noridques in the game.)
Golden Axe 1*
Streets of Rage 1* and 2
Shinobi 2* and 3

More than I can Remember
*In the 6-in-1 Cartridge thingy.

There is a Tetris available on the Genesis. It is done by a publisher called Pageantsoft. You can check out a couple of screenshots at this URL:

Good luck trying to find it, though. The Genesis Tetris is extremely rare and only about 4 real copies of it exist.

I highly recommend trying to search for Vectorman 1 instead of the sequel. The sequel isn't bad, but the first one is better.

castlevania: bloodlines is greater than SOTN.

And Golden Axe 3 was released only in Japan (and the UK, I think).

No, I'm not. I'm just posting info I read in this forum a month or two ago. The Genesis Tetris really is a rare game. Here's the previous topic http://forum.shmups.com/forum/viewtopic ... 44&start=0

I just call Megadrive "Genesis" in general becuase that's what I'm used to calling the system. I know the real cart is for Mega Drive.

eeeehh.....why? I think the gameplay is pretty dodgy.
Why do you liek it so much.

Next you'll be saying that it is better than C4.
C4 is the best platformer ever period. no one can challenge this.

Here we go again...everyone prep for the two-page flame to ensue.

On-Topic: Shouldn't this be in the trading forum?

Looking forward to it.

IRT D:

Can we say Topic Hijacking?

I did not intend for this topic of mine to become a flame war about Castlevania. It should not and will not become one. I really hope you're joking about being ready for a flame war about C4. I will put the MOD on aler t about this.

IRT to others:
I've updated the list:

Boogerman: Pick and Flick Adventure

To the others:
What else do you recommend?

See a Genesis essentials topic awhile back.

I'd say Bloodlines is by far the best game in that list you have there. Streets of Rage 3 is quality, underrated.

Well, fuck, I'm on a similar quest, and this thread's already been hijacked, here's a brief summary of some of the shit on my list. I've got most of the important domestic shmups:

Streets of Rage 2
Super Fantasy Zone
Dragon’s Fury
Raiden Trad
Gaiares
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Ristar
Battletoads
Castlevania Bloodlines
Contra Hard Corps
The Lion King
Ranger X
Vectorman 2
Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim 2

I missed out on a lot of the important stuff back in the day. Some of these games I never once saw for sale or rent (Bloodlines, Hard Corps, Dragon's Fury), others I rented a few times but for whatever reason never bought them (the Sonics, the Earthworm Jims, The Lion King).

Yeah, EWJ2 is crazy, a game with a very diverse range of levels. One level's title is "Jim Is Now A Blind Cave Salamander," and, for no apparent reason, Jim is indeed a salamander, who floats about and has to avoid the intestinal lining that inexplicably surrounds him. Another level involves puppies throw from a house, which Jim must catch in a marshmellow and bounce to the safety of their doghouse. And then a random Viewpoint style level.

It's crazy shit. I love avoiding the falling grandmothers.

I've seen Gunstar Heroes at least 10 times when I've visited the Mexican flea markets. I used to buy it whenever I saw it because I thought it would be rare but I stopped at 4 carts. The game is not rare, you can find it if you frequent non-gaming establishments like flea markets fairly often. Just keep your eyes peeled and be patient.
