Can someone help me with Mame and Magician Lord? (Not Romz)

Post by Specineff »

Hey, y'all.

I have been wanting to try Magician Lord after seeing that amazing 1CC video a few weeks ago. I have the rom from several sites (I'm not asking for Roms, so it's mod-friendly. :wink:) but NeoRageX refuses to import it, and that's where I need to play it because MAME consumes a lot of resources, and gets me a horribly filtered picture that looks as if someone had smeared lard on my monitor.

I thought it was the filename, so I tried MagLord, Mlord, mag-lord, and many others. It plays fine in Mame 37, but not on 96. (WTF?) I unzipped the file and noticed the files were named .bin at the end. Is NeoRageX expecting .rom files inside of the zip? This file has been downloaded from different sites since it could be the dump was incorrect, but nothing works. If I had only kept the file I got from Classicgaming when they still offered roms. :?

I know it's not a lot of info, but any help is appreciated.

Thanx0rz.

A lot of Neo Geo games were redumped a year or two back when it was discovered that the current dumps were all flavors of fucked up. You could actually get a lot of them to work using CLRMAMEPro to fix 'em up, but most people resorted to just downloading the proper dumps.

<insert-usual-rant-about-nrx>

As for MAME, turn on D3D and switch filtering to point-sampling from bilinear.
That or make the exact resolutions (or integer multiples there of) available and disable hardware stretch.

You can configure it like NRX if you really like...
