Import videogame store in Vancouver?

Post by Wavey Pavey »

Having Christmas in Vancouver, anybody know of a store there that sells import 360's, specifically Japanese or Asian ones?

Might be along shot but thought you guys the best to ask :)

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find one in the Crystal Mall in Burnaby (just East of Vancouver proper, and right on fairly convenient public transportation lines if you don't have a car there). It's a whole Asian mall, with lots of Japanese and Chinese shops. Bad ass food court too (soup dumplings!). I see there's one store called "Akihabara", but I don't know if it's a game store and I haven't been there in a couple years. http://www.thecrystalmall.ca/en/stores.php?catid=4

Also, almost right next door is a massive mall - Metrotown Centre. It's notable because it has a fantastic arcade. A little more fighter-focused than shooters, but it's a great arcade none the less.

Map showing both is here: http://www.metrotown.info/canada-burnab ... n-map.html

I know that arcade. It was pretty cool back when I visited. If you can't find a j360 there, you could check with Pinkgorilla in Seattle, though they might not have one on hand. I think you probably gotta order one online, as people aren't buying such things on a day to day basis.

Moved thread to off-topic.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

To be honest, I don't know of any. Most game stores you find in Asian malls here probably don't deal in wholly legit stuff. I mean, I've just been ordering my stuff from yesasia for a couple of years now.

I *think* a place in Richmond called DSX2 had some legit consoles (I recall seeing boxes stacked around include a PC-FX O__o) but this was a long time ago and I don't even know if they are still in business...wait..

I just checked their website http://dragonbox.ca/index_main.html and it's not clear to me whether they still have a physical storefront.

A place I have heard about in Richmond is Pop Toy (or Poptoy..?) which seemed to be a good place selling import arcade sticks and such back in the day, but I was never able to find the place. Granted, I didn't look very hard but again it's not clear if they are still around.

Sorry the post is so vague and mostly useless, but it is probably not too hopeful to find a shop selling import hardwares here.
