Ha ha, 27 is far from old. My dad is in his late 50s and still plays many games (old man games though, like Sierra point and clicks and that kind of malarky).
Depressingly, one of my students referred to the N64 as as "this hardcore, old-school console". I realised that he was only 3 or 4 when it came out. I'm only 23, and already I feel at death's door
I turned 40 this year, and I'm as much into gaming as ever. I don't have a ton of time for it, but I show no signs of slowing down. Unless shifting to RPGs from arcade games is slowing down. I'm certainly playing fewer arcade games these days.
I'm a grizzled ol' arcade game veteran that hails from the 1980s...that was the place to be and be seen. Other 80's arcade gamers know what I'm talking about... ^_~

Not sure.
It sure makes for good stress relief after homework or getting home from the job.
i have friends who dont even really play games that have more gear than that.....
personally i dont think age has anything to do with mindset....your as old as you let yourself be....that being said, i dont think video games are something that is just for kids.....
dont quote me but i recall the top demographic for videogames was males between 18-35.....'grownups' so to speak

Yup. True words.
I actually stopped playing in my mid-twenties as I had some sort of backlash against my youth and wanted to shed all childish things. After I got over myself, I rebought all my old systems and then some and started gaming again. Haven't looked back.
To those who think you are too old to play games, you aren't.
More like the type of grown ups without disposable income but who still always manage to dispose income for videogame related material. Hell, I don't even know where the f all the money I spent on games came from.

Hell yeah! Though, my tastes are skewed towards old gamer tastes. I don't approve of kids today with their 90 hour padded hack n slash overly-cinematic crap, or their "rock n roll" music for that matter.
A person's hobbies have nothing to do with their maturity. Responsibility and respect are what determine whether a person has "grown up." If you live by taking responsibility for your actions and treat others with respect, what difference does it make if you spend your spare time playing games, watching cartoons or collecting toys?

Ditto, only I'm 33. I don't watch regular TV, just the occasional anime or movie.
The only time when it's not fine to play games is when there are hot chicks around. Some of them might happen to like games but most likely none will. They'll think you're childish and you'll never get laid.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"
...

but then you will never find/meet the hot girl who does like games... In my case I married her... and yes she is hot and not just to me-- and no I wont post pics.

This is me except 37; also found myself turning more to rpgs, less patience for arcade titles.

Eugenics: you know it's right!
Turned 34 and have no intention of giving up on videogames. Grew up playing them, both at home (Atari 2600, Spectrum 48k...) and in the arcades (game centers when we still had them and dirty bars from Spain) and now I make money making them. Not enough money to buy PCBs unfortunately.

I'm 28, and I can't commit myself to games very well. The last game I was following intently was something like Tourist Trophy or Gran Turismo 4. I used to love them, but something happened (my webcomic I think) and now I have no patience or energy for most of them. Shmups are the only thing I can get into thanks to the quick gameplay, but I can't even commit to scoring.
Maybe one day I can have the luxury of interest in them again. In the meantime I just read about everyone else's gameplay.

Just wait until all the kiddos start nostalgia-ing over Halo3 and the like
but in all honesty we hold dear what we enjoyed in our youth and kids today more or less will have the exact same feeling we do about our games
