... being a huge fan of Mega Man 9 and of course the classic series in general, this is too awesome news.

I'm positive I'm alone on this, but I want a new ZX more than this retro stuff.

Eh... I'd rather another Zero game than ZX. ZX's gameplay additions really aren't doing it for me. But at the same time, I like that the Z series actually ended, and don't really want to see another.

Very excited about 10, though. I'm pretty confident that it'll be damn good as long as Inticreates does this one too.

I wouldn't mind a _good_ new X-Title as well.
X3 was sooooo awesome <3

I found the ZX parts too confusing to navigate.
Metroidvania doesn't fit too well with Mega Man IMO.

One of the bosses is SHEEP MAN. I love Mega Man games, and Mega Man 9 was charming, even a pretty solid game. But they're only doing this because MM9 made money. And they'll probably make another if this one does well, with eight more bosses, probably with even sillier names. At what point does it become necrophilia?

The least they could do is include a level editor or something. If it's just another eight robot masters I don't think it'll be well received. And I've wanted a classic style level editor since MMPU on the PSP. I'd be more excited about a port or sequel to that game on XBLA instead of this right now. The PSP's system for downloading levels is kinda blah.

Capcom is a company that seems really good at giving people what they want. But ideally, a company should give people what they didn't know they wanted.

Of course, which company doesn't like to make money? ^_~
I don't care how much corporate greed is behind it as long as the final product is great.
...not like DragonBall GT

Sounds like the Nintendo approach. ;)

ZX games are the worst of all the megaman 2D platformers.

The formula just doesn't fit and is poorly done, unlike castleroids. I can't bring myself to finish neither 1 or 2.
MM9 was hotsauce.

If Sheep Man appeared in one of the early Mega Mans, you probably wouldn't have batted an eye. The series wasn't without stupid/silly bosses from early on. Pharaoh man, Plant man, Wood man? All stupid looking or silly

Very nice. If it's as good as MM9 I'm on this immediately. Also, Protoman available from the beginning without a stupid ass unlock key.

That being said, I definately prefer the classic series to any of the revised variations, i.e., X, ZX, NT, etc. They seem to lack to lack the charm of the originals.

That's some epic cover art right there.

Soon they will start running out of nouns - it's only a matter of time until we have Triangle Man.

Re: Level editors, isn't that what rom haxing programs are for? It seems like it'd really be against their best interests to include a full-featured editor with transferable levels - it's not like there aren't hundreds of people capable of making content just as decent as them.

Except for the music perhaps. The composer is a genius.

The first ZX was a very high quality title, but I kept wishing there was a Level Select and that they hadn't kiddified it as much.

I like the X and Zero series the best. The tone of the games are darker and the stories are more relevant. Gameplay-wise they brought quite a few innovations too. X has weapon charging, wall jumping, Zero, Vile, mechs and more. The Zero series has lots of different weapons for Zero and an usable buster.

Edit: Triangle Man isn't as bad an idea as say Burn Rooster and Optic Sunflower from MMX8. The battles themselves are fun but how I wish they had chosen less silly living beings to base them on.

I'd love another ZX game. The Rockman series as a whole was increasingly about exploration and items and such, it was a natural evolution and at least the first game was a lot of fun. They need to give up on this whole idea of any kind of story continuity though, and not necessarily in the retarded "every Zelda and Link is a new Zelda and Link" way but rather not slapping the Rockman title on any new remotely similar game or series that they think they'll have trouble selling otherwise.

I wouldn't use the word "evolution" as it implies that it is an improvement over the previous style. It is a significant change but whether it's a better style is debatable. I thought it was quite a de-evolution in fact. Like an animal that develops an organ that is useless or is harmful to them, for example, a male turkey's feathers. Getting laid is nice but attracting predators is not.

I could have sworn I posted in this thread. Oh well.

I'd like a new ZX game if it had a map system that was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL ZX, because it was really awful. That said, I think Megaman 10's news is a bit stale because 9 was also in the same style. There's been a bunch of retro tributes over the past few years: the dungeon in Persona 4, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Bayonetta, No More Heroes, and I'm slowly getting tired of them. The novelty is wearing off, basically.

This will probably be way off, but I'm going to take a wild guess at the bosses from the screen shots. The one with the truck screams Truck Man or Convoy Man. Hopefully, if there is a Convoy Man, there will also be a Convent Woman (fighting evil robotic nuns FTW!). The one with the snouted enemies makes me think Snout Man or Q*Bert Man (probably won't happen, but it would be awesome!). I'm hoping the boss of the snow stage will be called Snow Man.

Triangle Man wouldn't be bad if they also had a Person Man and a Particle Man to go with it. ;)

I'm actually hoping for names like Bat Man, Spider Man, Blank Man, Meteor Man, Rain Man, Wonder Woman, Dark Man, Pretty Woman, Bionic Woman, Hot Woman, Mermaid Man, or Soul Man, but these probably won't happen.

An episode of Dyno Mutt I was watched earlier had a villian named "Shadow Man". Nothing like MM3's, of course, but it was funny how a robot master ended up with the same name as a villian from that series. It's also funny how MM8 had a robot master named Aqua Man that looks nothing like Aquaman and has an effeminate voice.

I wasn't too enthused about 9, but I played it and it was fun. I have a feeling that's how this one will be, I find it hard to get excited for another 8bit styled game when there's a bunch of indie games of equal or better quality in the same style. I am looking forward to the WiiWare version of LaMulana though, I'd like a chance to throw some money their way. I just hope they get their shit together and do a pc release for it like Bionic Commando.

On the topic of quality indie games, there's Spelunky, then there's everything else

For some reason the old "[name here] FUCKING man" pattern doesn't work for Sheep Man. Looks pretty decent though. I really ought to play some Mega Man games (a few minutes of Power Blazer and Wily Wars on Genesis doesn't really count).

Sheep Man > Toad Man

I always hated his crappy butt wiggling dance.

New 8 bit styled Rockman game, always a good thing. I hope that japanese group finishes Rockman 8 FC soon too.

They should return to the fascinating and original names used in the Rockman X series like Magna Hyakulegger and Wheel Alligates.
