Final Confirmation of XBOX Xyanide!...

Post by dave4shmups »

The following is an email I sent to Playlogic the other day:

"Dear Playlogic:

Will this game ever be released for either the XBOX or the XBOX 360? I love traditional shooters, so I'd love to see Xyanide released. Thanks for your time!

Sincerely,

David Halligan"

This was Playlogic's response, which I got this morning:

"Hi David

There are currently no plans to release Xyanide on the Xbox 360. It all depends on the success of the first one. Just be patient… It’s almost there!

Best Regards

Eric

Eric Bartelson

Content Development Manager"

"the success of the first one." WOO HOO! :D :D It looks like the XBOX will be getting this shmup after all

Maybe they're saying that Xyanide will come out on Xbox 360 if the GBA game is successful...

It's also on PSP now (instead of GBA? or in addition to it? I don't recall...)

*shrugs* This isn't the first time that Playlogic has told me how determined they are to get this game out-really, I seriously doubt they'd make statements like the one made in that email posted if they weren't serious about finishing this game.

Quite the contrary, I think they're pretty darned determined to get this into the hands of XBOX owners. And considering that the guy said "after the success of the first one" AFTER he mentioned the 360, it should be pretty clear, IMO, that he's talking about the XBOX.

And as far as this game being eclipsed by newer games; WHAT newer games?? :? Other then Nanostray, there are no newer domestic shmups out there, and from the screenshots I've seen on the game's website, it looks even BETTER then Gradius V.

Is it out now, or is it coming out? Because I certainly haven't seen it mentioned at all in the PSP's release date schedule.

I'm looking forward to this too, but it doesn't really seem like "final confirmation". It's a step closer I agree, but it's still kind of a "wait and see" response.

Do hope it's released soon...

Wow, I haven't seen any screenshots in quite some time, so this comes as quite a surprise that it's looking so good. My XBox is BADLY in need of a shmup. Yes, Geometry Wars is a very nice distraction. And Metal Slug 3, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection are all classic. But I tried the shmups-4-sale on XBox Live and was really disappointed. Very boring and monotonous.

My two cents is that it will suck.

Thanks much. These are very impressive, and a bit confusing. I didn't have time to scrutinize the screenshots with great care, and I came away confused even about the simplest matter: Is this a horizontal scrolling shmup, or is something else going on? In any case I will preorder this the moment it is announced. :D

It's a multi-way scrolling 2D shmup with a "Free Range" style weapons system, and weird 3D-ish looking tunnels displayed in the background.

Sort of like those disorienting moments on the first level of R-Type Final... but the whole game will be like that. Certainly has potential...

just because the developer is showing the game in leipzig doesn't mean it will definitely come out

playlogic need a publisher - which is now looking really unlikely

retail cost for the game in the uk in current climate could be no higher than £10

when taking into account all the production costs, retailer, distributor and developer cuts versus returns it is quite likely to add up into one big loss for the publisher

imo anyway!
