Hi all :D

Post by Munchies »

Hey guys, my name is Mark, I'm 16 and I'm a paper boy :D My interests are comic books, horror films and sega consoles from my childhood. I recently got into arcade gaming back in August when I got my Sega Astro City, though only have 1 game(Marvel Super heroes), as well, I'm broke :D Hoping to get into Cave games, funds pending

Hope I didn't bore anyone

'Broke' and Cave games don't sit too well together, but you've got taste, I'll give you that.

Good luck with your shmupping future paperboy!

Better than running out of bullets or shooting blanks though isn't it?

Man that's a lot of papers to deliver. I bought a computer with my first job, in hindsight a cab might've been a better way to spend $1000, but oh well.

Nice to see a young guy with appreciation for the classics!

Like Sega consoles? Then collect Saturn and Megadrive shmups with me! Forget that Cave junk!

The only consoles I had that were Sega was the megadrive and the dreamcast, had the playstation instead of a saturn :D The saturn interests me but my dad isn't prepared to order me one because he thinks the games are ****.

Fact of the matter is there are a whole heap of sega Saturn games which are fantastic. Did you know Resident evil first came out in the EU on the sega saturn and apparently runs faster too.

I made the same mistake when I was a kid. Nights disappointed me so much i had my mom turn in my saturn (and all my games including Guardian Heroes!) to get me a Playstation. I loved my Playstation and i do not regret my choice,. I do regret missing out on Burning Rangers and panzer Dragoon Saga, though. Playstation and Saturn are great systems in their own right but I think I still like the PS1 better. Even though the JP library on Saturn is godly. Pick up a cheap JP Saturn and join in the fun!

Hi there and welcome, Munchies.

It's never too late to get your feet wet with the Japanese candy cab hobby (or arcade PCB hobby for that matter). Hint-hint: the cheapest Cave shmup PCB to get/own is an Ibara PCB. Or better yet, why not aim for an Ibara PCB full kit instead?

When I was your age, I was into the cool R/C cars made by Kyosho -- another expensive hobby right there. Japanese candy cabs were not a big deal in the USA back in the early to the late 1980s (unless you consider the Japanese cocktail-styled cabs that were imported to the USA back in 1982-1983). I would see plenty of them Japanese cocktail-table cabs at my local Chuckie E. Cheese's back in the early 1980s. Even the rare Funai/ESP's 1983 deluxe sit-down cab of Interstellar Laserdisc arcade shmup made an appearance over at that same CEC location for a few years (later converted into an Data East's Cobra Command laserdisc game conversion).

If you could take a time machine back to the Golden Age of the arcades era...the early 1980s was the place to be. ^_~

Today for the second time from the other side of the future, young person! I forgot that your back section area, before a person plays with the electric game, verify that it becomes clean always and expresses itself!

Once more welcome to the place where the shmup.org is being sweet, it does!

I didn't know you had an Engrish vocalization module, Robotron. Or maybe you need a reboot?
