Just curious; this wasn't something vital to my PC's operation, but it was important to me, and I'd like to get it back if I can.

If you haven't emptied your recycle bin check there...otherwise do a system restore (if you have that option turned on).

If it was just some random file that you had (ie: not an installed program), System Restore won't do any good. Also, if it's been deleted from the recycle bin, it's going to be a little tough to get back.

There are programs out there which may be able to help, I'll try and dig up the names of them when I get home.

It was a folder of shmup vids, so System Restore probably wouldn't help.

How the heck I managed to accidentally delete that folder I don't know! This blasted medication I'm on is causing me serious short-term memory problems.

In any case, thanks for your help everyone...maybe I can get it back.

There are commercial data recover proggies. The vids are probably still there, unless other data took over that space, or those flags. Basically, if you want any chance of recovering your files, download "getdataback" and run a scan. Worked for me numerous times.

Ok, thanks I downloaded that program.

I had the video folder on my desktop, but this program only allows you to scan drives. :?

Dave, it doesn't sound like you even checked the Recycle Bin. All the stuff you're trying to do now is useless and just extra work if you haven't checked the Recycle Bin.

I have checked the recycle bin, it's completely empty, and there's no option in the Recycle Bin menu that I can see that allows you to recover deleted files or folders.

Windows XP was installed by CompUSA, where we bought this PC; how do I find out which hardrive Windows XP was installed to??
