Jackal Rebirth?

Post by linko9 »

I'm putting this in OT since it's a rumor, but feel free to move it if need be. Anyway, just came across this news story on Kotaku:

Maybe no one else cares about this game, but it was one of the first shmups I ever played back on the NES. Me and my friend spent many an hour with this game, and I've always had fond memories of it. That said, the game's not that great, but still pretty decent. Anyway, I certainly never expected to see any Jackal news, so I was pretty happy when I saw this today. I think I'll check out the arcade version.

I don't know. I love the original arcade and NES versions (the FDS version, not so much, though it has a sweet flyer).

Jackal is a fantastic game. One of the first video game I ever played, if I recall correctly. Yes, I'm a youngster :)

The furthest I ever got in that game was at my friend's birthday party circa 1889. We were playing co-op, and totally crushing, when my mom arrived to take me home. Sadly, the game ended there :(

Yes. My mom hit 88mph on the way home from the party, and we were returned to 1989.

Awesome! Sounds like a pretty wild party. Any hookers?

No, but his older sister was there, which was close enough... Or at least it was in my pre-adolescent mind.

Lets just hope they don't give it the old FPS color palette of all brown gray and green.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Arcade version for me. Don't know much about the NES one, but a friend of mine owns it.
Given it's coming out for Revolution will equate to, while it could be good, I simply have no interest in the platform it's on. Essentially, I didn't need to post at all!
