Problem with slowdown button on a couple freeware PC games

Post by janrodricks »

On two separate games I've downloaded recently when I hold the slowdown button I can't move to the left, but I can in every other direction. Anyone know what's wrong?

What games and what are you using for a controller?

Dunno if this should be in tech...

Warning forever and Noiz2se or whatever from http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/index_e.html. And I'm just using my keyboard. And actually I just tried a couple of hte other games from the site that I got and the same thing happened.

Strange, When I played both games I never experienced any trouble with the controls.

Have you tried a gamepad?

Some keyboards don't support certain keys being pressed at the same time.

As an example, if a shmup has anything mapped on the "C" key,I am usually screwed, as I can't prees DOWN, LEFT and C at the same time in my keyboard.

Like it was suggested, try a gamepad :)

Might be your keyboard is just unable to handle certain simultaneous key presses - happens to all keyboards but the specifics vary. If there's no way to re-configure the controls (so you can find button combinations that work) there's no way around it, other than picking up a gamepad.

Edit: Dang, Shatterhand beat me to it.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

This appears to be the problem. Instead of using X as slowdown I tried Shift and it works fine. That's a really weird problem...

Thanks everyone
