shameless plug

Post by kid aphex »

my friend and i recently started a podcast up---about games.
http://www.podcast198x.com
we're not getting paid for it, etc.
we've both just loved games since we were kids.
recently we've been getting into gaming podcasts, and felt a lot of their opinions were lacking [from a design perspective]
so we started this podcast!
we try to stick to more 'hardcore' games...by that, i suppose i mean eastern developed?
and as much shmup talk as possible on a weekly podcast about the industry-current.
if you dig gaming podcasts, i think you should check it out and tell people
[we're also on itunes if you need to subscribe thru there]

peace,
ray

I've listened to 00 and 01 and like the majority of what I've heard so far. I was originally looking for something to fill the temporary void of Destructoid's Retroforce go, but I think I'll subscribe. I had some valid critiques in mind when I listened earlier this week, but I've forgotten them. :P Keep it up!

But I will mention this -- if you consider Halo and WoW hardcore, we have different definitions of the term. I could be off base, but I remember that hitting a switch at some point when I was listening.

Because I have far too much spare time on my hands, I listen to a good deal of podcasts, and I, too, have listened to episode 00 now.

For a first episode, it's amazingly good. Go back to the first episode of really any podcast out there and it's incredibly rough. There's decent chemistry between the members. Everyone seems to be pretty articulate. The quality probably needs to be picked up a bit (from a sheer production/editting standpoint), but it's understandable if you have sub-decent equipment.

You earned yourself a subscription in me. Keep up the good work! Just don't get discouraged if you don't have a lot of listeners for a while. We all go through that in the podcasting world. :) Consistency in both quality and releases is really the best way to earn more.

thank both of you for your honest criticisms;
luckily, sean and i have been good friends for a while, so chemistry shouldn't be too big a deal
and about halo and wow being not-hardcore...i totally agree.
the deal is....most podcasts and sites nowadays either cater to the HARDCORE crowd, or the mainstream crowd.
but...sean and i love both--- and we figure there have to be others in the same "middle ground" as us---thats who we're hoping to appeal to.
so, we're sticking 50/50 hardcore and mainstream...
personally? im hoping to introduce a lot of mainstream gamers into the amazing fun to be had on the hardcore side of things

but seriously, thanks again

oh by the way, in the near future, one episode is going to be devoted entirely to shmups---
everything about them [we can think of] crammed into one podcast.
hopefully, we're trying to get undamned on the podcast so we can shoot the core---er, shit, about the community at large
