Light Gun Games
I'm astounded that there is no site on the internet that specializes in Light Gun Games.
You know, a fan site that lists all games in this genre and news and stuff.
I guess that people that like light gun games are not the same people that make websites.
If you know of any sites please let me know.
All I can offer at the moment is a link which lists all light gun games on Gamefaqs.com (including duplicates and non-light gun games that have the word "light gun" somewhere in the text.

Any thoughts comments? Anything? No? Not even: "Go to hell"?

VC2 for the DC is garbage. It's a port of the crap PC version of the game. It's BRUTAL.
Silent Scope are pure amateur hour as is the crap rifle you're talking about. The only gun on the xbox worth anything is the only in Japan Sega designed Beretta 92FS.
On the Xbox, HOD 3 isn't bad although nothing nearly as good as HOD 2. Nice graphics but gameplay just isn't a patch on part 2. When you beat 3 on the xbox you get to play 2 but unfortunately instead of the beautiful DC version of the game you get the butchered PC port which is HORRIBLE.

I still love virtua cop 2 must check out the first one
Best light gun game ever house of the dead one! it was soo dam tough I don't think I ever saw a kid go 2 mins without continuing in the arcades good job i got it at home.
Time crisis series argh..... 2nd one felt okay some good parts but That fickin 3rd one its like too tropical the locations have no meaning and the enemies wild dog wild fang not like, ducking all the time feels like cheating.
Confidential mission was a bit dissapointing not on par with vc2 or hotd2.
the bonus missions to get double in gun light guns were v hard.

Time Crisis series is horribly overrated. It really doesn't do anything particularly well, and part 3 is a travesty. The whole ducking/shield mechanic is just crap imo.Diabollokus wrote: Time crisis series argh..... 2nd one felt okay some good parts but That fickin 3rd one its like too tropical the locations have no meaning and the enemies wild dog wild fang not like, ducking all the time feels like cheating.

Confidential Mission is a lot of fun. Nothing mindblowing but the cheesy spy story is entertaining and the locales are nice and varied. Not too challenging but definitely enjoyed it.
I have it and I like it. It concentrates more on accurate firing rather than just pulling the trigger rapidly. At few points in each stage you can shoot these leech-like demons off of villagers - if you hit the demons the villagers reward you with weapons, recovery items and so on, but if you hit the villagers they turn into vampires and attack you.Gozer wrote:I'm thinking of picking up Vampire Night. No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Yeah thats the one, although it all-depends on what your looking for in a light gun game really.Bar81 wrote:If I remember correctly, that was the PSX series with all the games? If so, that sucked.SheSaidDutch wrote:Point Blank?
Point Blank is like the Wario Ware of light gun games, sure not everyone likes them esp If you want a full game but for quick blasts of mini games it cant be beat IMO.

True, I'm not a big fan of that stuff.SheSaidDutch wrote:Yeah thats the one, although it all-depends on what your looking for in a light gun game really.Bar81 wrote:If I remember correctly, that was the PSX series with all the games? If so, that sucked.SheSaidDutch wrote:Point Blank?

I like Battle Clash and Metal Combat for SNES. Lightgun mech combat! I love how each enemy has their own weak point and different areas of the mechs react different to gunshots. I like how Metal Combat was two playable mechs that play differently.
I also like Silent Scope, Operation Wolf, the Virtua Cop series, the House of the Dead series, Confidential Mission, Duck Hunt, Gumshoe, and the Time Crisis games. Anyone remember Crossbow? I used to play that game quite a bit in arcades.
The GBA Silent Scope is actually pretty good. It doesn't use a scope, but the controls are well designed with the ability to focus on the enemy and slow down the cursor. It has some GBA exclusive stuff too.

Everything?! I'm a huge light-gun game fan, but I'd say HotD2 is not that great. The DC port is a good port of a fair game ("Don't Come! Don't Come!" - it's some of the worst game voice acting ever... maybe the Japanese version is better). House of the Dead 1 on the Saturn is miles better in terms of overall mood, level design and the gameplay is spot on.Bar81 wrote:If you want light gun games look no further than the two best:
Virtua Cop Rebirth [PS2 - replicas of the incredible SS ports but with updated visuals]
House of the Dead 2 [DC]
Everything else is 2nd rate.
I love Area 51 (I have both the Saturn and PSX revs) and Time Crisis (PSX). Elemental Gearbolt (PSX) is great. I enjoy westerns so I have a soft spot for "Gunfighter: The Legend of Jesse James" on the PSX (most don't care for it, but I enjoy it).
Virtua Cop 1 on the Saturn is lights-out the best, IMO. Virtua Cop 2 is... okay...

Once more the light shines brightly in sector 2814.

I'm a big fan of light gun games, they're pretty much the only genre of arcade games I can still consistently find. There's always a Time Crisis machine to be found. Most arcades are just racing games, redemption games, and DDR, while the light gun games are what get my love (when a shmup isn't around).
I played Time Crisis 3 for the first time last Friday, I quite enjoyed it. The other Time Crisis games have also been fun. My big problem with light gun games is that most arcades have really shitty guns that are all scratched up. My big problem with the Time Crisises is that you can't play with both games at the same time, but whenever I try to double fist a House of the Dead or Area 51 machine, I find that at least one of the guns is utter crap and can't fire straight.
I had a lot of fun with the Point Blank games in the Cyberstation in my old town, but I haven't seen one in a long time.
Lightgun games are hard to bring home. I need to find some Virtua Guns so I can play House of the Dead and the Virtua Cops and Area 51 on my Saturn, the problem will be finding ones in good condition. Whenever I get around to getting a PS2, I'll definitely snatch up a bunch of light gun games, they seem to be fairly well supported.

No one mentioned Lethal Enforcers? Man, I played the hell out of that game on the Sega CD. Try playing it with Beatie Boys' "Sabotage" blasting in the background and it's a ton of fun.
And Crossbow rules. There's actually a really nice port on the Atari computer sytem (I think, but it may have been on console), that's surprisingly accurate.

That isn't saying much. Sabotage automatically brings the awesomeness of just about anything to near overload levels.8 1/2 wrote:No one mentioned Lethal Enforcers? Don't get me wrong, though. Duck Hunt was (and still is) the shit. ^_^
