Your favorite nutjob conspiracy theories

Post by crithit5000 »

Man your tinfoil hats, it's government coverup time.

The Illuminati, Flat Earth Society, Jews/U.S. government did 9-11, Black Helicopters, whatever. Doesn't matter how possible/impossible they are, just make sure there's a bunch of slackjawed yokels spreading the truth. Keep it zany by posting batshit insane websites/videos (ESPECIALLY VIDEOS) that prove the conspiracies exist. Liiiiiike...

NUKES ARE LIES?

It's like a massive troll gone all wrong...

I like to keep an open mind to conspiracies (military experiments and politically motivated actions), like with the ambiguous lunar landings. 1984's conspiratorial world wasn't BS; Stalin's cult of personality was fresh on western minds with manipulated photos and press reports to include him in historical and influential situations where he wasn't.

But stuff like alien abductions, apparitions, and "missing" celebrities just bore me.

Oh god, I have a friend who is deeply into this (despite my objections). My current favorite is Planet X/Niburu, which manages to both explain the whole Mayan long-count calendar (2012 folks) and tied into a bunch of UFO/alien mumbo-jumbo.

video

I swear every year the alien conspiracy stuff gets nuttier.

people who think the lack of bullet trajectory analysis on JFK's brain and the fact that his brain was later lost means a conspiracy.

oh wait, that's me.

edit:
OK, Robert Kennedy probably stole it to bury, and they have x-rays of the bullet fragments in the head. case closed.

As the title of the thread suggests then its gotta be the whole 2012 End Of Days event - 21 December 2012

The end of the long count calender supposedly signifys a solar system alignment.

In the meantime we can look forward the Roland Emmerichs take on 2012.

I have no favorite conspiracy theories, for the most part I hate them all. I wish people would simply research what the fuck they're saying.

Especially with regards to 9/11.

9/11 TRUTH goons are probably actually my favorite, I was going to say people who didn't realize the seats in the JFKmobile were at different heights until dtdg reminded me of the truthers.

Here's a hilarious quote from Hunter S. Thompson about the Vincent Black Shadow motorbike:
There is a fundamental difference, however, between the old Vincents and the new breed of superbikes. If you rode the Black Shadow at top speed for any length of time, you would almost certainly die. That is why there are not many life members of the Vincent Black Shadow Society. The Vincent was like a bullet that went straight; the Ducati is like the magic bullet that went sideways and hit JFK and the Governor of Texas at the same time.
Moon landing was faked theoreticians are great too.

A popular one around here seems to be the "Kurt Cobain was murdered" conspiracy theory.

I spent a couple weeks one time just researching conspiracy theories. My all time favorite is the Philadelphia Experiment.

There was a co-worker of mine (who got fired for oral sex in the parking lot) that insisted that cigarettes are not addictive and that that in itself, along with lead being poisonous, is a lie and a conspiracy. he was a frequent smoker. he also denied the holocaust, and insisted that HIV was created to kill homosexuals and blacks. also, the colors you see aren't real, the government just makes them look that way to gain control over you..... wtf goes on in some peoples minds

The last time i saw him he was drinking from the sink in the public bathroom at wal-mart

Aside from their current (relative) prominence, watching Dr. Orly Taitz (who is apparently a dentist, lawyer, and real estate agent; no idea how she finds time to go on TV) throw Occam's Razor out the window can be pretty entertaining in a perverse way. Her website exhibits the level of quality web design that you've come to expect from cranks.

I like the conspiracy in that movie with Mel Gibson when he's this paranoid cab driver who believes he's had his brain washed to commit assassinations and that the "assassins" actions are triggered by The Catcher In The Rye novel.

9-11 was staged.....by the US government(well, the real powers behind it anyways).....

without 9-11 the US military wouldnt have a budget of world conquest proportions....it funded afghanistan(which was basically just an excuse to get to the middle east and closer to iraq), it funded iraq, and its gonna fund the next invasion of another oil bearing country in the near future

I used to enjoy a good conspiracy theory, but I think the internet and being able to read or hear a lot of moron's views/opinions on the matter have ruined it for me. Plus the fact that if you disagree with them on their views and try to present your views on the matter, they consider you to either be brainswashed (lol the conspiracy worked!) or part of the conspiracy. It's kind of sad, really.

I can see that, but you also have to understand from their point of view. If you're on the conspiratorial side with minority support and no authoritative backing, people also think you're crazy and unsupporting of the effect you're trying to disprove.

So I'd say an equilibrium is best. Although the JFK conspiracy has sort of ruined the image, conspired assassinations by interest groups was a routine occurrence in history. And the fact that the CIA used torture was well-known by many foreign countries for at least 30 years yet the west just shrugged them off as vicious lies until just a couple of years ago. Even I called the war on Iraq absolutely not about the nukes just as we were starting since it was an obvious politically motivated (whether based on ideology, revenge, financial gain, etc.) attack.

One thing is for sure: folks (at least the vast majority in the US) are on the whole very naive to politics and will believe authority (unless they truly hate that authoritative figure). If Clinton tells you he didn't have a sexual affair, you'll tend to believe him until all the evidence pops out. It'd be a good thing though if more people accepted statements but in the back of their mind examined whether there might be some ulterior motive or cause related to an effect. But alas, this will never be since the vast majority simply don't want to think when they don't need be and I can sympathize with the "ignorance is bliss" mentality.

Great, I just had to read this at 4:52am. Oh well, it'll be light soon.

I'm so easily scared though. Just this morning I woke up and the fridge in my hallway (don't ask) was making a humming noise. The closer I got to it the quieter it became. OMG IT'S A GHOST. But then I realized the floor isn't perfectly straight so it's off balance a bit.

What amuses me is that people actually go out of their way to create fake ghost stories with the intent of having people scared, or just to piss people off. Oh well, it's probably the dumbest waste of time in the history of wasting time. And now I need to start thinking about something else before I begin to question the presence around me. Which happens every fucking time.

here is a real conspiracy attempted by the US army:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/may/15/iraq.usa2

my family got so pissed at me for trying to tell them this during the war (but thank you BBC)
"It was like a Hollywood film. They cried, 'Go, go, go', with guns and blanks and the sound of explosions. They made a show - an action movie like Sylvester Stallone or Jackie Chan, with jumping and shouting, breaking down doors."

I see this as being no different than any other supernatural belief. Like say, the resurrection of a dead person three days later.

Here's a couple:

Obama is not a US citizen/Obama is a socialist fascist!/Obama is a muslim/Death Panels!/Sarah Palin isn't retarded just touched by the gods!/etc

All these and more are muttered by slackjawed yokels around the US.

I personally subscribe to the one about Bush Jr. being a genius who invaded Iraq to stop an ancient UFO buried under Baghdad.
Proud citizen of the American Empire!
