Taito Type X2 BIOS Access

Post by Kenchan »

I need to get access to the BIOS for Taito Type X2. I have a broken board that requires a BIOS fix to run again, but I can't seem to access it any way. Anyone know how to do this?

Secondly, other option is to reset the BIOS by removing the battery. I haven't had time to take the motherboard out yet, but it looks like the battery is soldered down. Anyone know if the BIOS default settings are acceptible, say if I still couldn't get into BIOS afterwards?

Did you try connecting a keyboard to it? I believe pressing F1 would get you into the BIOS settings. Is it a CMOS error? In that case you need to replace the battery, then do a couple of restarts (I know a guy who needed to have a keyboard attached as well).

haha uh, I've done a lot more things to a TTX2 than play games on it. I've tried everything normal, including attempting to find jumper settings on the motherboard. One did something, shadowed some stuff I think, but nothing has gotten me into BIOS.

Not sure I want to know why its screwed up or needs a fix, but I'm afraid you qre SOL. No way to reset or disable the password on the bios.

I haven't had a need to change the bios settings, so I think its acceptable, but don't know exactly what nefarious uses you had planned.

I have an extended block move error on boot. It's a memory clash between the onboard video and a PCI-E card, so it works with the PCI-E card out, but won't display video with the card in and gives the beep code. The only way to fix it is to go into BIOS and change the setting for it. God only knows how it got where it did in the first place.

I guess the best I can do is remove the battery and reset the BIOS settings to default, hope that fixes whatever went wrong in it.

Sounds like a worst-case senario you've got there with the TypeX2, Kenchan. Hope you get it sorted out soon. ^_~

EDIT: Nvm.

Though unlocking the BIOS would be interesting especially if that would allow us to install any video card we wanted.
