LS-32 adapter plate - Where from? Anyone got a couple spare

Post by neorichieb1971 »

My 2 astros arrived this morning (see other thread).

However, the joysticks are wanked. I have 2 brand new LS-32's, but it seems the holes don't match up with whats under the hood. Therefore I assume an adapter exists. Can anyone shed some light on the model number of the part I need?

Thanks in advance.

it all depends..some use flat plates, some the short s plate.some the long s plate . on mine i just reused teh mounting plates from the buggered ls32s in the cab.. i think it#'s the longer s plates you need!! don't suppose you have got a spare flat semitsu mounting plate ? i need one of them!

The LS-32 plate is much squarer than the astro mount, which is very long rectangular in a vertical fashion.

At the moment I managed to reverse the metal plate on the LS-32 and get 2 screws to fit the mounting plate on the astro, but honestly its not ideal although its very tight. I didn't realize but the stem of the joystick is very short on the LS-32  . Its so short I can't get my fingers under it. This maybe why I need the plate. At least its controllable and it works beautifully.

As cheap as parts are from sanwa etc, I'm surprised these cabs have not had any replacement parts for a while.

sounds like you need one of these seimitsu S plate. your ls-32 coms with the flat plate. you just need to switch the plates and you should be ok.

At first glance it looks exactly like whats on my LS-32 right now. The mounting plate on the Astro is much longer.

My LS-32's have the joystick, S plate and the blue directional plastic restrictor plate that come apart. As someone said above, you can drill bigger holes into the s plate as the spacing of the holes is only 3mm out. However, I was under the impression these sticks were made for these types of cabinets and therefore an adapter plate should exist. I'll take a pic tomorrow.

Cools, thanks for the offer mate. When I take the picture we can see what I need for sure, its nearly 1am and time for bed right now.

This is the type of plate that was on the joystick I took out I think -

Bugger, seems I ordered the wrong one. I have no clue which plate is the right one. This is ridiculous and costly and it took 2.5 weeks to arrive.

My joysticks say LS-32-02 on them.

I have the most common cabinet around.. the Sega new astro city. How hard can it be?

The plate that is on the joystick fits the joystick. The plate doesn't fit the cab.

The plate that I ordered fits the cab, but it doesn't fit the joystick.

The cabinet is long and thin rectangular and is completely flat

The joystick plate is square and has a bridge on it like the S plate.

As described, the plate under the CP matches the standalone plate on the left. No 2 holes match up at all.

the plates that were on the CP when you got it were flat like that or the S ones?

let me have a look through a couple boxes this evening and i will see if i have any flat seimitsu plates....they would be yours for shipping cost if have any....you need 2, ya?

Yes mate, I need two plates.

In theory, holes on the plate would be where they are on both plates in the pic above. 4 holes in the middle to mount the joystick to the plate and 4 holes on upper and lower for the mounting to the CP.

Top is:
Seimitsu MS Flat Joystick Mounting Plate
Flat mounting plate for Seimitsu LS-33, LS-55 and LS-56 series joysticks.

If you're swapping JLFs for LS32s you'll need to check the cab control panel and get the correct plate - it might not be the RE (flat) plate. Get us a photo of the underneath of the panel.

If the panel itself has S shaped mounts (which I suspect it does) then if you get the flat plate for the LS32 the stick will be sitting too low as the shaft is shorter than a JLF. But if the panel mounts are smaller than the LS32 itself, so it can't sit flush, this will be your only option. I've tried to like flat mounted LS32s sitting low and quite frankly I can't get on with them - it'd be better to shove 33s or 55s in.

Crux of it is - not every stick fits every panel!

Well the question is.. Do the MS and the RE plate have their holes align each other for the CP?

If they do, then it will fit. Since the main issue I have is mounting the plate to the joystick at the moment. My joystick obviously has the square configuration, not the diamond configuration of the MS.

Chad from lizard has sent me two more plates free of charge.

This time hopefully RE plates as ordered.

Thanks for all your help. I'll be sure to chime in when they come.

You need RE plates as well (Flat plate for LS-32, LS-40).
