Great local multiplayer games-
Yeah- we've had this thread before I'm sure- but it's been awhile and it's time for a refresher course. I'm looking for suggestions on good multiplayer games- whether it be co op or competitive. Any and every suggestion is appreciated!

Snes:
Bomberman(S)
Mario Kart
Street Racer
N64:
Mario Kart
GameCube:
Bomberman
Mario Strikers
Smash Brothers Melee
F-Zero GX
Super Monkey Ball(s)
DC:
Virtua Tennis
Outrigger
Chu Chu Rocket
Vigilante 8: SO
Power Stone 1(2 player?) /2 (4 player)
Xbox:
Mashed (think the title is?) 4 Player Micro Machines style racing game- VERY fun
Time Splitters 2
Time Splitters FP

Worms1/2
Bomberman
Shooting Love 200x
Death Tank
PC:
Soldat
Liero
Scorched Earth
Worms
Atomic Bomberman
PCB/Arcade:
Numan Athletics: Both of these are really neat 1-4 player competitive 'super sports' games.
Mach Breaker (NA2)
Smash TV
Mr Driller G
Multiple/?:
Puzzle Bobble 2!!!
Point Blank 3!!!

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Mashed algo got a PS2 version, and an USA release under the name of "Drive to Survive"
It also got a special edition named "Mashed: Fully Loaded" which is pal only, and make the game a lot better (better gfx, smoother framerate, new cars and a new racetrack)
IMO its one of the finest multiplayer games ever made, right there with 2D Worms games.

Some stuff for general audiences:
Puzzle Bobble 2!!!
Point Blank 3!!!
You should mention what kind of ppl you're planning to play with. There's a big difference between playing with your buddies and your girlfriend/grandma/mother/children. The buddies and I of course play a shitton of fighting game and even shmups sometimes.

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
I've had a lot of fun with multiplayer arena shooters. Used to love playing Smash TV with friends.
Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Super Mario Kart on SNES. Ive put so many hours into that in local MP, still do

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
+1 here. Chu Chu Rocket is a total blast with 4 players and costs next to nothing.brokenhalo wrote:DC

Muchos años después, frente al pelotón de fusilamiento...
Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Death Tank - on xbla and saturn (you need quake and duke nukem 3d to access it on saturn, and really need a multitap too), it's like a single screen, real-time version of worms, and is much better than worms imo.
Super Monkey Ball 1/2 - gamecube
Rock Band
Wii Sports
Little Big Planet
...also agree with chu chu rocket, and there's loads more...

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Time Splitters 2 and Future Perfect plz kthx
Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Time Splitters 2 more than it's sequel, but both are excellent. 4 players and maximum number of bots with sci-fi handguns only (the bouncy shots from TS2) and 1 hit kills is bliss. Mapmaker is gold too.m3tall1ca wrote:Time Splitters 2 and Future Perfect plz kthx
Re: Great local multiplayer games-
2 is DEFINITELY the best. Actually, probably the best console FPS, in my opinion.

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Might want to toss Power Stone 1 and 2 onto the Dreamcast list. Though for my money, Warlords on the Atari 2600 (complete with 4 dial controllers) is still my favorite multiplayer game ever.

Re: Great local multiplayer games-
Some wonderful suggestions in here!
Yeah- I had an iso of Fully Loaded on a Soft/modded Xbox- I ended up buying Mashed in the store as the game turned out to be great. I thought the game just carried a slightly different name due to region- not content. Needless to say- it's been a pain- but I tracked down a PC disc of Fully Loaded as well just recently- only to find out that the Xbox (Pal) edition is still better due to the view angle : P PC one can do 1080P, though.
I remember boycotting Chu Chu Rocket back in the day- I should give it a second chance. Every time I hear Dreamcast and "fun"- it's there.
Point Blank is a wonderful standby. I like it more than Police Trainer or Area 51 Site 4- the content in any of the Gun Bullet/Point Blank games seems to keep even the non gamer (friends gf's) and the like interested.
As for kinds of people- all kinds. I eventually want any guests that come over to not need/want or have to bring anything over. A few years ago when I was into dedicated woodies is when it hit me. The best, most awesome games in the world to me- probably don't mean crap to someone else:P
I played a boat load of a few of the Timesplitters games. Does make me sad that it never quite got the respect it seemed to deserve. I wonder where the IP stands right now?
As for power stone- old faitful right there
A buddy of mine imported it the first week it was out in Japan (he was a big Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee nut as well)- the fighting felt fresh. It's games like that the bothered the heck out of me- DC was a helluva system
As for Warlords- a 4 player cocktail of that would be some crazy fun
