Easiest Strikers game
Easiest Strikers game
What, in your opinion, is the easiest Strikers game on defaults and why? How about the easiest of the pre-Naomi Psikyo games in general?

Re: Easiest Strikers game
Definitely Sengoku Ace/Samurai Aces. If you want to go back further, Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters (excluding sequels, unless you really want to include them or something).
SA answers both questions, and cannot be explained other than "it's easier". Has that really simple "200 per coin" thing like Gunbird, too.

Re: Easiest Strikers game
Hmm, stay away from Strikers 1999 and Dragon Blaze those are imo their hardest games.
If you don't mind playing with borders and yoko. I would recommend Strikers 1945 Plus for MVS. For Cave players it is one of the most accessible of Psikyo's 2D games and it features pink bullets

The future is 2D
Re: Easiest Strikers game
I've found that 1945 II and 1945 Plus are the easiest Psikyo games.

Are you serious? I think Strikers 1945 II is very hard.
My vote goes for the original Strikers 1945. First one and also the easiest.

Yeah, the first Strikers strikes me as the easiest in the series, though it is by no means easy in later levels.
Sengoku Ace is easily the easiest Psikyo vertical shooter. As I recall, your shot is pretty powerful up close, so you can take out enemies in a hurry if you've memorized the patterns. There are also some handy safe spots.

Re: Easiest Strikers game
I think the original Gunbird is far easier than Sengoku Ace, especially if you play with the girl wielding that bullet-cancelling stick. It's by far the easiest Psikyo game.
Another vote for Strikers I or Plus as being the easiest Strikers game.

Re: Easiest Strikers game
The early Psikyo games can be deceptive because the patterns are so generic that its hard to memorise some of them. I can see why you might say Strikers II is easier than the first one, you actually have a usable charge shot in II.

Re: Easiest Strikers game
I was planning on revisiting Gunbird and Sengoku Ace this summer, so I'll have to check that out, Herr Shatten. I'd LOVE to get my first Psikyo 1cc. I found that Gunbird got a bit tougher in later levels than I expected, and doesn't it have one more level than Sengoku Ace?
Strikers Plus is pretty tough, imo. I'd love to play it again, but I need to get a MV-1A motherboard for my MVS cart.

Or an original MV-1 mobo that takes up valuable real estate works just fine as well. ^_~professor ganson wrote:I was planning on revisiting Gunbird and Sengoku Ace this summer, so I'll have to check that out, Herr Shatten. On the Gunbird PCB, it starts off nice 'n' easy but definitely gets harder towards the later stages until the eventual conclusion.
Strikers 1999/Strikers 1945 III is just plain brutal -- you'll encounter some enemy shots that move faster than your fightercraft does. The enemy does, indeed, have the upper hand on you anyways when it comes to the trademarked Psikyo stylized scattershot and bullet patterns. ^_~

Re: Easiest Strikers game
Yeah, I noticed I need to develop a new strategy for tackling Psikyo-style bullet spreads. If I have it right, you're not supposed to be navigating those dense spam patterns if you can help it (unlike a manic), and it seems beneficial to kind of push through the other shot patterns. This is different from my approach to manics which is trying to make minimal movements... or is there a better general strategy for Psikyo patterns?PC Engine Fan X! wrote: Strikers 1999/Strikers 1945 III is just plain brutal -- you'll encounter some enemy shots that move faster than your fightercraft does. Re: Easiest Strikers game
I haven't 1cc any Psikyo shmup. Not even Sengoku Aces... so I dunno if I can say which one is easier.
But regarding the Strikers games, I find II to be a little bit easier than 1. When I used to play both, I sweat to got to 1-5 in I, while with a few weeks of practice I could reach 1-6 with some consistency in II (I've reached 1-8 in II a few times, while I don't think I ever got past 1-5 in I )
Also, Plus is kinda hard too, but as I played it a lot in a local arcade, I could reach 1-8 a few times on it too.
Neve played 1999 more than one or two credits on Mame.

Re: Easiest Strikers game
Considering that 1945 II was the only one I was ever bored enough to beat it gets my vote. I would also like to add that the final boss is an entire letdown.Kollision wrote:Are you serious? I think Strikers 1945 II is very hard.![]()

Strikers 1945 is the easiest one, no doubt about it. I 1cced in 2 days...
Re: Easiest Strikers game
I think Strikers 45 II is doable in the first loop by just moving and trying to dodge through patterns. If you want to all clear it, you'll have to tap dodge/safe spot the fun out of it. Sengoku Ace is the easiest and has the easiest (most fun) loop. A few safe spots and you're ready.louisg wrote:If I have it right, you're not supposed to be navigating those dense spam patterns if you can help it (unlike a manic), and it seems beneficial to kind of push through the other shot patterns.
