cps2 kick harness problems... please help

Post by rocky_muk »

hi,

i new to this so pls dont laff please read on lol
im basically new to this, anyway ive looked online and it luks straight forward to install the kick harness it self from the pcb to the 3 buttons.
However i hav a supergun in an enclosed box wiith the jamma edge, it has db-15 connectors, my question is when i connect the kick buttons to three buttons how do i configure the rest thats inside, the punch buttons. I really dont know what to do.

I got my kick harness today...

Thanks in advance :D

You would need a custom made kick harness cable that goes into your supergun's DB-15 input connection interface. Then it would be possible to hook up the Capcom kick harness to that specially made harness adapter and you'd be able to properly utilize all six buttons for your favorite fighting PCB games.

The above described situation is what I use when playing with the American Sammy produced arcade shmup Daioh PCB that uses a 6-button layout setup anyways on my supergun setup (via a custom made kick harness adapter specifically made for use with the Daioh PCB itself). Of course, I could swap out the 2-pin header on a certain jumper switch located on the PCB and just play it with the original 2-button setup found on the original Japanese Daioh PCB setup if it needed be. The USA region Daioh PCB is the only tate arcade shmup title to be endowed with a 6-button setup to this very day. ^_~

Just as PC Engine fan described, you nee dto modify the kick harness you just got.

The kick harness is just the connector that goes to the CPS2, and a set of cables. Probably you have a table that describes which color coded cables are the kicks that you need. You probably won't need the volume and test lines that are also there.

You'll need to know the layout of your supergun, which pins on that DB15 connector are for the extra 3 buttons for each player. Then all you need to do is get a DB15 and it's shells and solder the cables to the pins as needed, close the shells and play.

what do you need +5v for the joystick for?

as for the punch buttons they are the standard jamma, so they are already done....so if you have your kicks sorted you are done
