I just got Spriggan after playing it on emulator for about a week, and I am very impressed with it. It's fast-paced, has a ton of variety in the levels, and the difficulty level seems to be just right on 'hard' mode. I also like the inclusion of two different scoring stages.
I have, however, noticed a couple flaws: The blue-blue-yellow weapon seems a little overpowered, but it's not really good for corridor situations so I'll have to see how it handles for the rest of the game. Some of the levels, mostly st3, are a bit on the long side, which I suppose comes with the territory. Finally, the two hardest difficulties seem maybe a bit undertested: the carriers in st1 seem to be unkillable without bombs on that level (is that correct?).
Any thoughts?

I've just been playing Spriggan on emulator this week and it is fantastic.
I agree that the difficulty can be a bit unbalanced but that's more than made up for by the depth of the game.
At first I couldn't get my head round it but once someone pointed out to me that the initial video scenes gave a tutorial if you let them run, there was no holding back with Spriggan madness

That's what I think Twiddle was saying.. it would make a lot of sense; it really does feel like a mellower Mahou. It's got the same wizard enemies, the floating cities (on the scoring level), treasure chests popping open with powerups, and the indoor levels feel somewhat similar to me... and then Mahou has the Compile-style clusters of "P" icons. Does anyone here have the credits to both the games?Ed Oscuro wrote:Wasn't it developed by the Mahou Daisakusen team anyway?
I'm sure it is.. I'm trying not to play it on normal diff though. So far, st4 is pretty stubborn =) Which is good, because I was unable to make M.U.S.H.A. hard enough for meRuffNEC wrote:Haven't played it for a while. Is it an easy 1cc ?
