The art of the kamakazee...........

Post by popawell »

Everyone who has played me in Gradius V, Mario Kart, and any other game that you can kill yourself and others on the process fear me. I love to kamakazee. Im wondering if any of you people out there are like me when it comes to this?

Oh yeah, and beware if you see the screen name popawell on online games any time soon. Or you might get a kamakaze in the face!

actually, dying in some 2-player shmups (such as Ikaruga) clears the screen of bullets for a second, allowing the other player a bit of a breather. however, during the second-to-final-boss battle in Ikaruga (the giant beetle-ball that's white on one side, black on the other, and keeps shooting homing bullets at you) i got thrown off my flip-rythm when my various partners died. ^^; anyone who's played Ikaruga on 2-player will understand this one. XD

It's spelled kamikaze.

Dying is counter to everything I've learned from gaming. Although on the rare occassions that I play a FPS, I do enjoy finding a rocket launcher and firing it in close quarters.

You love being a kamikaze? Good for you.

As for me, I love other people to do kamikaze for me. See Daisenpuu.

...i forgot to mention in my first reply that kamikaze'ing in shmups is retarded, just FYI. despite clearing the screen of bullets in Ikaruga, i'd never do it on purpose. sure, it'd give my partner a second to breathe, but you need to set priorities in shmups, and cruel as it may sound, one's own survival comes first in 2-player games, even in co-op.

i'd recommend actually trying to avoid crashing into things; i mean, what's more embarassing: getting shot down and by a swarm of bullets in a valiant act of heroics, or deliberately crashing into something that's just sitting there? you decide... ;)

also, unless you're playing with unlimited credits, you tend to eat continues rather quickly by crashing into things. :/ and, as someone playing for score, i usually try to hang in there as long as possible.

lastly, THIS THREAD BELONGS IN OFF-TOPIC.

Seriously, people, I have to say - I'm getting sick of your two sentence topics. So rather than cluttering this used-to-be-awesome forum with your stupid comments, post your shit at LiveJournal, PLEASE.

Shmups used to be about awesome discussion between SHOOT-'EM-UPS. People didn't used to create topics that just said "OHMUG GUYZ I'M A KAMAKAZE LIKE LOLZ!"

Approach your target and attack! Your mission starts now! ARE YOU READY!?

spec·ta·cle
n.
a. Something that can be seen or viewed, especially something of a remarkable or impressive nature.
b. A public performance or display, especially one on a large or lavish scale.
c. A regrettable public display, as of bad behavior: drank too much and made a spectacle of himself.
