I'm guessing that version of Prey is the cell phone edition, if Duke 3D is shown right next to it...

Yeah, from what I understand, this is basically a huge cellphone that connects on a TV, and it has a proper controller.

This is from Tec Toy, who used to represent Sega around here, and Qualcomm.

Also, they will be selling this for a price higher than a PS2 can be bought here (The PS2 still is the most popular console around here, because the current gen is still too much expensive). It's probably going to flop badly.

They are trying to sell this for people who never had acess to a console, and for people who want to buy cheap games.

Problem is, most people here have a PS2 bought in some illegal way (contraband), and most people have never even seen an original PS2 game. People buy pirated games believing that's the only way games are distiributed in the whole word.

Zeebo games indeed will be very cheap, but yet more expensive than pirated games. Since the quality of the games won't be better than a PS2, nor the price, there's no point for people to buy it.

There was a meeting when they were showing Zeebo, and the guy showing the "market" where you buy online games, bought Quake and then played it for a little bit to "show off the console"

Everyone watching was like WTF? Quake... ONE? The guy had to pause and say that the Zeebo is being marketed for people who never played Quake 1.

Is there anyone like that in the world?

I believe if they had free development kits, and let people sell games through their online market and get a fee for each game sold, I think it could work. But the way it is, I doubt it.

So it's a commercialized emulator.

But the Wii has dedicated games for it, not simply just the Virtual Console.

Well is this really just a mobile emulator? Wouldn't there be original content, too?

At some point, there was some speaking of original content, but I haven't heard about this for some time, and so far all we've seen is emulated cell phone games. Qualcomm sent some press released stating you a company could make original content for the Zeebo, using some SDK from qualcomm used to make Cell games. So, even if someone makes an original Zeebo game, it will probably end up on the cell market anyway.

The only thing that seems promising for this is Sonic Adventure 1...
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

It seriously looks like someone modded the fuck out of a Wii.

But, yeah. This is going to suck.

Wasn't this one of the first ever PSX games? Didn't it suck?

The real question is

does it play MSX games?

That way it can get its own Wikipedia listing, like the Zemmix.
