The triple digit price drove me away from that Saturn port, and I own Bubble Symphony. Instead I play the Liquid Kids on Taito Legends 2. Very solid platformer from Taito, one of the games on TL2 that seems to have no issues. Played it via emulation though and it is indeed a perfect port, much like the Saturn Bubble Symphony.

I once saw it go for $75, bad part was I had no money on hand at the time, every now and then I get lucky on ebay auctions, maybe it'll show up for way less than $100 again, maybe not.
Left, right, left, right, A,B,C,A,B or B,C at the end to bring up an extra menu for a few nifty options like English language or transparent or opaque bubbles (that code also works in Bubble Symphony and Elevator Action Returns for the Saturn, apparently Ving loved this code).
Do the code on the games title screen of course.

Thanks in part to a terribly low print run, so I've heard.Elixir wrote:So the Saturn version's selling above the price of the PCB? What the hell, man.
Good game and the last of the Ving ports to Saturn although with the PCB and TL2 availability, some could argue it's not really worth it. I'd have to side with those as TL2 makes the reason much less justified on Saturn. I do have both the Saturn copy and TL2 mind you and I happen to think Saturn runs and feels just a bit more accurate so I don't mind having spent a little of extra cash on a complete copy a few years back.

I recall back in 1999 or 2000 when I first visited NCSX's website, they were clearing out Liquid Kids for $29.99 or something, and I remember thinking who would want this Super Nintendo looking kiddie game?..
It wasn't until the following year that I began feverishly importing all the Saturn 2D games that never made it for sale in the US (I did previously buy imports from Electronics Boutique). (Strikers 1945 Part II was my first internet purchased game, btw).
Fast forward to 2005: I'd purchased every conceivable Saturn game I could ever want. Except Liquid Kids. I refused to pay eBay prices because somehow I felt entitled to a cheaper price since I had seen the game for sale brand new for only $30 ~ clearly there was no way I was paying $60-80 for a used copy!
Once the Taito collection was released and it seemed logical that the Saturn game would plummet in value. Copies started showing up on eBay, but it still took me months to snag one. By then I had purchased the Tatio collection and doubted the need to fill the gap (all the VING games) in my Saturn library.
Somewhat out of an obligation to justify my years of searching I snagged a copy from eBay for ~ $60 sometime in late 2007.
I don't blame you if you've tldr'd this post, but here's the juice:
The Saturn version is 100% more enjoyable to play then the Taito collection. On the Taito collection you have to go through those shitty menus with that shitty waiting room BG music. Then the default control set-up is shitty, or especially jacked if you're using a joystick.
On Saturn you pop the disc in and it is a singular experience - you are playing Liquid Kids. No messing around with control config, or other menu options (unless you need to change the difficulty).
As far as I'm concerned, the Ving ports on Saturn are some of the best ports ever. No nonsense.
$100+ is steep, but certainly not regrettable.

$150+!!?? Dude you could get a nice sperm for that price!Neon wrote:It's really rare. I've been looking for it for like 6 months now. Maybe it was around there a few years ago but I've heard of it going for $150+ so I dunno.nem wrote:Three figures? This is a $60 game, tops.
Still a great title, no argument there.
