analog button might not be a mouse, but could prove decent to use.

Still you'd agree the game would have a more natural home on the DS platform, right!?Turrican wrote: analog button might not be a mouse, but could prove decent to use.

Hey, impressive how the console war is radicated in gamers' dna. I only reported the news, I wasn't even thinking to DS. ^_^Super Laydock wrote:Still you'd agree the game would have a more natural home on the DS platform, right!?Turrican wrote: analog button might not be a mouse, but could prove decent to use.
It is worrying that the first thought we came up with is "damn, this game would be better on this"...

Hmm, you could just be right about that... it makes the decission a bit more logical to me.Turrican wrote:Natural home is Amiga.
DS a better home than PSP? yes, definitely. The stylus would do miracles with Lemmings.
But you know, I think Lemmings brand was owned by Psygnosis... that means Sony.
And even aside from the console wars stuff noone in the right mind would prefer an analog stick as the method of control over a mouse (or a stylus).
But I don't really care as I grew tired of the game already in it's Amiga days!

Err, not really. As much as I like Team 17, Worms is the best gameplay idea they ever had, perhaps tie with Alien Breed.ST Dragon wrote:It's ironic for a company mostly producing action titles for the AMIGA, is now mostly remembered by that retarded game called "Worms"

The series deserves the success, as it is really fun to play. Unlike many flawed franchises they did in the amiga days... I for sure would take PSP Worms any day than Bodyblows PSP.
Alien Breed would look cool on the PSP or a PS-2 remake. Or even a new FPS Alien Breed game on PC. But then they would get Sued by Fox for copying AVP I guess.
But I agree Alien Breed Series & Worms were their most successful games, even though I don't like Worms.
I would love to see another Alien Breed, Project X or Assassin maybe...
X-2 on the PS-1 has the best hand drawn graphics ever on a horizonatl shmup imo.
Imagine what they could do on the PS-2 or PSP or even the PS-3!

Yeah, actually, the worst part of Worms franchise is its increbile success... If only those worms sold a LITTLE LESS, perhaps those lazy arses at T17 would work on their other series too...
Then again, had Worms sold less, T17 would now probably closed, like many tiny amiga-age developers.
Yeah, X2 graphics, cool stuff. But it took years to do that, and frankly graphics are the best part. I would enjoy another go, but only if they refine gameplay.

Yeah gameplay-wise X-2 was about as bad as Projext X was on the amiga, just slightly better. In X-2 They over did it with the thousands of enemy waves flying in your face & the weapons provided weren't powerful enough to deal with them all.
How many years did it take them to make X-2?
I remember reading in games mag, back in 1993 that they were developing it for the A1200. Three years later it was released all of a sudden on the PS-1! What a surprise. It was one of the reasons along with RayStorm, CastlaVania SOTN, Skeleton Warriors, In The Hunt, Air Combat & Soul Blade that I got the PS-1 in the 1st place. Great gaming experiences with the PS-1.
I have to get my PS-2 modded to start enjoying all those cool JPAN Shmups. Its getting spider webs all over it!

Team 17 wasn't "tiny". As far as I know, they were among the biggest, if not THE biggest publisher team.
I remember a month, when the charts for the most sold games in Europe was released, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots were taken by Team 17 games. (Alien Breed 92, Super Frog, Assasin and Project X, if I remember correctly)
And while I think Worms is among the best thins they ever done, I really wish they would make other different things than Worms.
I never played ALien Breed 3D 2, but people say it gives a run for Quake 1, which was released a bit LATER ...
They were developing a new Alien Breed game, which was looking like a Resident Evil alike game, but it seems it will never see the light of day..

Alien Breed 3D 2 had some cool effects that Quake 1 was missing. But the enemies weren't true 3D like in Quake 1. Gameplay & level layout was very similar to Quake 1 by the way.
Alien Breed 3D 1 had better gameplay than Alien Breed 3D 2 imo. It played very similarly to Doom1 & had some nice touches that Doom1 was missing like water transparencies. But was shorter, had less enemies & less graphic details.
Also the disk version I tried on WinUAE didn't have ingame music unlike part 2 which did. I don't know about the CD version of Alien Breed 3D 1?
Both are very playable on WinUAE.
These games should be ported onto the PC.

As a publisher, they were not so small, but surely not the biggest in the amiga days. I mean, Virgin? Ocean? Electronic Arts? Gremlin? All of these were bigger companies.Shatterhand wrote:Team 17 wasn't "tiny". As far as I know, they were among the biggest, if not THE biggest publisher team.
As a developer team, they were tiny respect to today standards: ie one leader Martyn Brown, one or two for graphics, one or two for sound, and some programmers.

Alien Breed 2K4, was supposed to be a Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance clone, only in sci-fi setting. Too bad it was scrapped. I have the feeling PSP could be an ideal platform for T17. Low development costs, enough power to satisfy these graphics maniacs.
