Twinklestar Sprites, HEEELP!

Post by Zejiro »

Hi guys, I really need some help.

I just bought Twinklestar Sprites for Sega Saturn. I had seen a picture of it before he shipped it (however I'm going to pay at the end of the month..), but I didn't know what it usually looks like so I didn't suspect anything.

However, when I got it I took a picture of it and posted on a Swedish video game forum.. then some guys over there said that the CD case doesn't look like the original one, because it's supposed to be a double case.

I contacted the selled about this, and he claims that there are different versions of the game. But I don't think it even looks like a Saturn CD case, now that I think about it. The game is comeplete, I have both the CD's, and as you can see the case is for two CD's.. so it kinda is a double case, just not the one that is twice as wide.

I would appreciate if someone could help me solve this problem!

Oh, here's the pic!

some double cds are still as slim as a single cd game. Not sure bout that title since I don't own. JPN cases don't look like the US ones, not sure what you got in Sweden.

that case matches what i see sold online at least one game collectors site.

Well.. the thing is that this site lists it as released only as a Double Case..

I don't have a spinecard for it at all, unfortunately.

:(

I guess you have to determine if you care or not. I wouldn't fret over it if everything else was complete.

Try to get your Saturn games with spinecard or just assume they are not complete. I always take that into account when pricing.

Yeah, well I'm new to this (kick-ass) console, so I don't know what spinecards are for.. except for making the games more expensive ;)

I was hoping that someone here know if there is an original case like this one or not. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Otherwise I will have to agree on something with the seller. He doesn't seem impossible to do business with. He is as curious as I am, because if there isn't a version like this.. then he got ripped off :P But I don't wanna get ripped off too, obviously :P

For JPN Saturn games, spinecards became the traditional proof that the seller kept the game 100%. It's nice, but if the game is legit and you have a book and it works for you, I wouldn't consider it a ripoff.

Worst case scenario for you is that the case is not the original. Do you care?

I do care, that's why I started this topic :)

The thing is that I've paid pretty much what anyone would have to pay for a complete, original version. And if I someday want to sell the game... I will only get half its value or so, because the case isn't original. And that why I wanna know, because in that case I don't wanna pay that kind of money for the game that we agreed on.. and the seller has agreed on letting me buy it cheaper, as long as we're sure that it's not the original case for the game.

And that's why I need your help :)

Your game is incomplete.

It comes in a large double case with a separate front cover, that is missing from yours:

You should ask for your money back.

The gold printing on the front cover seems to extend to the edge of the front (over the swiveling part of the case) on a real one.

Surprisingly interesting topic...Sega and Sony sure used a lot of nonstandard cases the last two generations.

So you're 100% sure there just aren't two different versions, where one has the fat case and one has the slim case?

You could always go image shopping on Google for covers. Should see enough pictures to see if another with the black-strip case with the "2" appears again, or if it's all ones with the printing nearly to the end.

i did some searching myself earlier cause i was bored. Ends up being only images of the 2 cd fat cases when the entire package is in the shot.

Yes, absolutely certain. The above pic was taken from http://www.satakore.com – they list every version of every Saturn game ever released, incl. an image.

LOL, that case is so made-up. IINM, if they used that, that would've been the first JP game ever using that type of case. I've never seen that type of case used in anything except US PC games. So yeah, looks like a typical switched case.
