How's PS1 "Alien Trilogy"??...
It probably hasn't aged too well graphically, but from what I've read about the game, the plasma rifle sounds are intact.
Any opinions on this one??

I played the PC version back when it was a new game, and I didn't like it all that much. Not bad, but it didn't manage to get me hooked.
If it wasn't by its Alien license, it would be just a "Me too" FPS, with the technlogy available at that time.
Now, if you consider how old the game is by now, it probably isn't worthy all that much.

It's engine is comparable to Doom's but it plays quite a bit nicer. the episodes are out of order, IIRC... I think it goes Aliens, Alien 3, Alien or some such...
Personally, I loved it on Playstation even though it had the engine limitations that it had (you know, unable to have rooms over rooms and whatnot...stuff I had loved so much about Duke Nukem 3D
). Picked it up back in 03 with the intention of playing through it again but I've just never gotten around to it (I got Nectaris at the same time, and that one sucked up all of my game play time...fuck me was that a great title)

Disruptor is actually very cool. Even the "cut scenes" are cool in a VERY cheezy way.
I'd reccomend Alien Trilogy as well, as its quite good.
It definately has that "Creepy Aliens Abound" atmosphere going for it.
If it wasen't for their early limitations, they would give the likes of Halo and TimeSplitters a run for their money.
Also, Doom and Final Doom are pretty good on the Playstation...as I've spent countless hours with all of these.

There's nothing good to say about it. It's a piss poor port and I never much cared for the game to begin with (it did pioneer the hub based system in first person games and have neat shattering glass and stuff, which i guess was important for future lackluster crap like Quake 2 and Mortyr)dave4shmups wrote:Any thoughts on PS1 Hexen? Much better on the Saturn though, if you can swing it. The PS port of Duke Nukem 3D was also lacking (mainly framerate issues in both). Still, I agree that it was enjoyablecaptain ahar wrote:Powerslave is quite fun as well.

Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Underground were my favorites on the system, though. They came out before the WW2 FPS craze went overboard and before EA had a chance to brutally rape and abuse the Medal of Honor franchise (R.I.P.)

What's worse about the PS2 Medal of Honor games?? And I thought that Duke Nukem 3D was a 3rd person shooter?-or am I thinking of a different Duke Nukem game?roushimsx wrote:Much better on the Saturn though, if you can swing it. Frontline was a good game, though it had some framerate problems. Rising Sun, on the other hand, was just a piece of crap. Really bad level design and scriptingdave4shmups wrote:What's worse about the PS2 Medal of Honor games?? Duke Nukem 3D is a FPS, but Zero Hour (N64), Planet of the Babes (PS), and Time to Kill (PS) are all third person shooters (and pretty much all suck, though Time to Kill is the least bad of the three)

And the new Duke Nukem game from 3D realms, will EVER be released?
Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, the 2 last FPSes from 3D Realms are still among the best games in the genre IMO, despise both being real old for now, in a genre that seems to age badly as hell. (DN3D is from 1995, and Shadow Warrior from 1998)
Now I doubt there's any better FPS on PS1 than both Medal of Honor games. I think they are very similar to Goldeneye in some ways. And they are extremely long like most FPSes , so I had the opportunity to finish both games before they got too boring, and still wanted to go for the harder levels...

Actually yes, the new Duke Nukem game will be released at some pointShatterhand wrote:And the new Duke Nukem game from 3D realms, will EVER be released?

3DR is hard at work at it and it'll probably be released next year (before the new Unreal Tournament, which btw looks fucking amazing). 3DR has long since learned their lesson and decided to shut the fuck up about the development of the game until it's closer to release (thank god).

I had it on the saturn a few years back not a bad game.
Most of the scenes are there like the skeleton in the chair, ammo is scarce enough, only gripe one level required multiple atempts with a rocket launcher to find hidden walls as you ran out of ammo!
levels are cool and they have the whole med lab glass alien bursting through stuff good game i liked it. Big queen alien bosses and fmv sequences helped.
personally I rather play alien versus predator 2 on the pc + expansion pack. Game is up there with my top fps half-life 2 far cry, painkiller and doom 3. haven't played halo yet.

random aside. i always wanted a console version of Blood. maybe Monolith will do a sequel that isn't stupid on 360.

I have no sig whatsoever.
If it makes you feel any better, I don't own the Saturn version eithercaptain ahar wrote:don't rub it in my face man.i wanted the sat version but couldn't find it and the ps one was like five bucks or so.

I don't think Monolith is going to work on either a new Blood or a new Shogo anytime soon, and sadly...i don't think they're going to do anything else in the No One Lives Forever franchise for a while (if ever again) either

It's ok but Alien Vs Predator on the Jag is the superior aliens game.
Feedback will set you free.
