How important is EMS?
How important is EMS?
Compared to other forms of shipping? Especially concerning buying/selling on Ebay.

or, in my case, doesn't even bother to knock on the fucking door. dude just drops the "come to the post office and get your stuff, retard" card in my box along with the junk mail and runs away.[/rant]ED-057 wrote:Stuff can make it from Japan to my local post office in only a couple days. What happens after that is up in the air, since a signature is required on delivery and the postman often shows up when I'm asleep or at work.

Depends on how heavy the package is (at a certain point, JP sellers have to use EMS or go by seamail and you definitely don't want the latter) and how much they're offering it to you for. For items well over $100, it's a good choice. EMS goes out 7 days a week so you'll definitely receive it in a quick 2-4 days as opposed to a full week. I'm never there on weekdays so that means I have to make an extra trip to the post office, which is sort of annoying.
Whether you want to shell out that much for less expensive items (think of the cost that would add up, oftentimes $10 on a single item) is up to you. I generally always go with airmail except with valuable items since I'm in no rush.

From the dos prompt type memmaker. When asked whether you use programs that require ems memory, hit Y, enter. Very important for some older games.
Seriously though, what everyone else said. I've always had good luck with it, especially for more expensive items. For cheap stuff I would just use the cheapest/slowest method possible to keep from paying way too much for a little trinket.

especially concerning buying/selling on eBay. I trust these forum people waaay more than eBay (the forums can give you pointers on the type of people you're dealing with) and would only consider airmail here. EMS helps remove the stress of 'has it shown up yet' on eBay, though. I don't ship overseas on eBay without itDamocles wrote:Compared to other forms of shipping? If you don't mind waiting, and trust the seller (and the seller trusts you) it's not. I think I've only lost like 2 packages in airmail out of... shit, way more than I can count.Damocles wrote:Compared to other forms of shipping? Especially concerning buying/selling on Ebay.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that when I saw the thread title...BLEAGH wrote:From the dos prompt type memmaker. When asked whether you use programs that require ems memory, hit Y, enter. Very important for some older games.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

It could go either way -- EMS shipping method or EMS memory for PCs. But it really is talking about EMS shipping what the OP was inquiring about. ^_~null1024 wrote:I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that when I saw the thread title...BLEAGH wrote:From the dos prompt type memmaker.
