Chicken Pox

Post by GaijinPunch »

Anyone here *NOT* had the Chicken Pox? I haven't, and now that I have a small son that attracts germs like naked 12 year old comic book characters attract Japanese men, I need to weigh out my options. I swore up and down to someone that they were high as shit when they suggested there was a Chicken Pox vaccination. Looking back, I see that Japan and Korea have had it since 1988, and the good old US of A since 1995. I am shocked and apalled that Japan had anything medically related before the US.

My mom always said I was immune, as I was exposed to it many times and never contracted it. It's not a dice roll I want to take though (and I've taken many).

Thoughts? Apparently the vaccination is 2 parts (4-8 weeks apart) which fucks it up for me. Means I have to find a doctor in Japan that I trust to break the skin. To me, this is a bigger gamble than having sex with a stranger.

Definitely vaccinate him 'cause if someone gets it, then the whole neighborhood gets it. My brother had it when he was like 14 and then he infected my sister and me. Luckily, I didn't get it really bad but it still sucked ass.

My mom always said I was immune and I'd been exposed tons of times. I always assumed that I must have had a mild case when I was a kid. I was wrong. Turned out I wasn't immune at all, and I caught it....at 25. And man....you do NOT want to catch chicken pox in your mid-twenties. I felt like I was gonna die for about 3 days straight. I could barely get up to go to the bathroom...it was HORRIBLE.

Definitely vaccinate if possible.

Word. I'd get that vaccination. Chicken pox sucks more when you're not 5.

Don't get the vaccine. Stay healthy and you can avoid any disease.

Awesome. Why didn't any anyone else think of that before! What about hepatitis, will we no longer need vaccination for that either?
"Don't want to get sick? Just stay healthy." I bet this will also prevent fractures, appendicitis and cancer.

Maybe it's the Chuuhi, but I got a good chuckle out of that. I'm about to be 34, and consider myself quite healthy... way more than most poeple my age. Even so, I have a little cold now, so yes, the pox can get me.

The little punk kid is vaccinated, but who knows if his friends are, right? That's the deal. I guess I'll go for it. I kind of have this rule about Japanese doctors breaking the skin, but I guess I'll have to make an exception this time.

I'm 17 years old and never had it. The main reason is that I've been vaccinated for it a few times through out my life. The only reoccurring problem I have is tonsillitis(sp?).

If you do get the chicken pox, don't pick at the sores or you'll get scars that'll last a lifetime. ^_~

I'm going to assume that youtube video features two children spitting in each other's mouth, so I'm totally not gonna click it.

I can't believe they still allow mercury as a preservative in vaccines here in the states. Surely Japan has moved past putting unnecessary toxins in its stuff, right?

Back in the military, they used to make us take those useless flu vaccines (useless for anyone who's not really young or old) every year. It didn't thrill me when I read about a study that showed an increased rate of Alzheimer's in people who'd taken 10 or more of the things in their lifetimes.

Enjoy your long painful death when the avian flu wipes out humanity again like it did back in 1712.

Impeccable. She's the smartest person I know. I didn't get shit by her as a child (or adult for that matter).

I only get Tonsillitis(sp?) a few times a year so the Doctors say that's a good sign and that I need to leave my tonsils in.

Some people don´t get cancer with even when they are smoking, and other people live healthy and still get cancer. Cancer is something very complex, and that´s the reason it´s so hard to fight. You surely should try to keep your risk as low as possible, but it ain´t as easy as just "living healthy".

I dont know how the tonsils work but i still get soar throats from time to time more than any other illness. There not as strong now and I can get on with work as where before i was bed ridden for over a week and did not leave the house for two weeks and i would have hallucinations from not drinking or eating for days at a time becuase it was so painfull to swallow. it was bad put it that way but not as bad as the migraines i used to get. I anoys me when people will have a headache and say 'oh i have a migraine' like its somehting that simple. When i had mine i just thought it was a really bad headache and then about 3 hours later I would be lying in my room screaming with the pain every bit of light and sound would send unbelievable pain though my head and it was so bad i would voimt everywhere. after about 2 years of medication they just stoped one day. I am not exatley a healthy child I have had a lot of bad shit happen to me Glue ear with a 95% hearing loss in both ears until i had my operations still not 100% (my ears though)

ok tragic tales of lordstars past are over lol

so yeah chicken pox! get your wife to get him ill when your away dude

That's cirrhosis. Hepatitis is usually caused by a viral infection, which can be transmitted even by a kiss.

Remember, if you look and behave like a chicken, sooner or later another chicken will find you attractive and will insert itself into you without your consent. Seriously, how bad can Japanese docs be? I remember you lamenting about Japanese dental health care, no?
