X360 shmups bugs. (RFA, IKA, THE)

Post by P_HAT »

Hi.

AFAIK xbox360 versions of RFA, IKA, THE have specific bugs.

Can anyone help me, and name all of them?

Also, how about Shiki3?

I think that most of the known RFA bugs have been fixed via patches by now...the biggest one I can remember hearing about (though I never experienced it myself) was RF2 occasionally freezing, IIRC when certain display settings were used. Are there any features that still need fixing? I haven't heard much on that front since the most recent patch...

I THINK it is, though someone else should probably confirm.

RFA had some major bugs, the game freezed about once every two hours.
It freezed in RF1 when you bombed on a specific position, it freezed in the Game Over Screen when you pressed the A button too often also the music and soundfx was out of sync frequently. Also it occured once to me that the visible screen area shifted to the right until it was totally out of the screen. I had to delete my save and start new to fix it.

But since the last update I haven't noticed any bugs.

On Shikigami 3 the online leaderboards don't work.

On Otomedius G sometimes there is no music at the first boss also the Arcade Mode isn't viewed in 4:3 when you have set your 360 to a widescreen resolution. I always set the resolution to 4:3 before playing Arcade mode and then it works.
The leaderboards in Otomedius G are also very bad. You have no friends filter and you cannot view your score. But those are not bugs it's just user unfriendly programming.

On Raiden IV the sound fx can only be heard through the left speaker.

Thanks antares!
Looks like JP devs don't like beta testing.

I can't think of any bugs in the XBLA version of Exelica, just that there are a lot of minor changes to the gameplay that make scoring strategy and boss strategy very different to the Arcade and Dreamcast versions.

Ikaruga has some changes or bugs regarding reversed patterns and the lock-on laser that affect high-level play, someone else will have to come in and name the specifics as I don't have time to find the thread right now.

Warashi released a patch some time ago that fixed many of the problems with the game.

That 16:9/4:3 thing that you mentioned in Otomedius has never happened to me - I play on a widescreen setup and Arcade mode always displays in 4:3, as it should. I'm tempted to say that it might be an issue with your screen/monitor, rather than the game itself.

Are you sure the aspect ratio is 4:3?

I made two pics for comparison:

On the first my 360 is set to a 4:3 resolution. The game is displayed in 4:3 with black border on the sides:

On this picture my 360 is set to a widescreen resolution:

As you can see the borders on the sides are much thicker now and the game looks more like 3.5:3 or even 3:3.

Hmm. Good question. I've got my PAL 360 plugged in right now, so I can't check it out, but I don't remember it looking squished like that (and I normally notice that kind of thing). I'll have to dig out the NTSC-J model and give it a go.

get your self a componet lead as the vga lead can be funny with widescreen and 4:3 resolutions it dosent display them as they should some are streched missing bits. used to get the problem when i set my 360 to wide srceen it would display in 4:3 and when i set it to 4:3 it would be streched.

what iam saying is the componet lead fixed all that looks perfect now and
if you only have a monitor your pretty stuffed.

Is that a monitor or an actual HDTV? If it's a monitor then it is actually 16:10 as opposed to an HDTV which is 16:9 of course. If that is the case the first image is more correct, the second is showing the side bars as if it is a 16:9 TV.

Yeah it's a 16:10 monitor.
I noticed that many games display in the wrong proportions on a 16:10. RFA is the only shmup which has a 16:10 display option in the screen settings menu.
Since Otomedius is the only hori shmup at the moment it doesn't bother me too much - I play the vertical shmups on another tated 4:3 monitor.

I think the 16:10 option is in the 360 settings menu.

I know. I have selected a 16:10 resolution ;)

Maybe I should try a 16:9 resolution for the correct proportions
