Heh, I remember that sketch:) If you want a more accurate depiction of the darker side of the UK, I'd reccomend you check out This is England by Shane Meadows. It's a pretty awesome film examining the microcosm of race relations in 1980's Nottingham. It's very harrowing at times, but it comes with a very poignant message. More to the point, it was filmed a stones throw from where I live: a lot of the locations in the film are some of my favourite hangouts

Just remember: things have moved on a
lot since then

why don't you move down to glos? just don't play your too loud innit
what is it you do that you were at work at midnight?
Interestingly, I first visited Nottingham for a gig in 2003, and I fell in love with the place. It used to be an awesome place for noise and doom gigs, but they're drying up a bit now. There's a lot of nice areas here, and I live in a fairly nice and leafy suburb just next to the gorgeous University Campus. There's two nature reserves down the road, a huge country park just a stone's throw away, and the city centre is small but really compact. When you hear of all that crazy stuff on the news, it invariably has taken place in an area like St Anne's or the Meadows, which are very easy to avoid. It's not all Shottingham round here
Still, I think I'm starting to outgrow it, and crap like this just gives me more impetuous to leave.
Gloucester is pretty awesome; I had a mate living in Cheltenham a few years back, so I've visited both a few times. It's a place I would surely consider living if London didn't have such a siren song over me
And I work for a cinema down the road. The hours are long and late, but I'm just treating it as a throwaway job until I can start my preferred vocation: teaching
