AOU 2009

Post by sven666 »

yep, its a month away and the list has been (somewhat) released.

http://www.am-net.jp/show/aou2009.html#list

deathsmiles 2 is a no-brainer but what else is of interest?

taito seem to have a bunch in the "video" category aswell, new elevator action for instance, also a 4 player game of unknown genre..

i dont know what 2010 shooter is but its listed as "other" so i guess it could be anything, maybe the working name for a new shmup?

Does it say Deathsmiles 2 somewhere in there? Massively popular franchise for sure, but they just released DSMBL. I'd be pretty dissapointed if they didn't go another route. You know, like Ketsui 2...

What happened to Yagawa, is he not at Cave anymore? Isn't it his turn already? Or what about that rumored Guwange sequal? Man, anything is better than another DeathSmiles.

:?: deathsmiles is bloody fantastic mate, have you played it?

i for one welcome it if it means a financial success for CAVE to boot, i reckon chanses are pretty good this will be the first CAVE hi-res shmup aswell what with the redrawing of sprites for the xbox port.

depending on when DS2 is released i think we might see yet another game from CAVE this year even.. :)

Alright you called me out, I haven't played it, but am not a fan of Cave manic horizontal shooters anyway. And I've seen all the video I can stand of both DS and DSBL.

Ok then, what are the chances of DS2 being a Yagawa directed, vertical remake, with insane rank mechanics?

Deathsmiles is nothing like Progear no Arashi, tbh. Though I like both, so...

I'd be happy for a new Yagawa to be cutesy-loli crap... so long as it is a sequel to APB :D After all, tht's what Ibara was to Garegga.

I'm down for a Yagawa game as well. Deathsmiles is great, but three games in 2 years seems a lot doesn't it?
A Guwange sequel would be amazing...

Perhaps in an alternative universe, does an Armed Police Batrider II PCB sequel exist & our alternate selves are playing it as you read this. Gotta give proper kudos to 8ing/Raizing for pulling off this amazing APB-2 sequel in the first place. It's first-rate arcade shmupping at it's finest. ^_~

Anything new from IGS? Any new light Gun shooters? And didn't Cave already mention that they were making another game besides DS2 and wasn't an original property?

Nope.

Other releases of note: Senko no Ronde DUO and Trouble Witches (anyone know what kind of game this is?)

It's a PC shmup,Doujin. I'm not crazy about it but I think it's good. Some people love it to death.

Unless your talking about Senko No Ronde which is a versus arena shmup. And this new one will have a 2 on 2 mode. Very good game.

Trouble Witches for PC is pretty good, it's a witch themed horizontal shooter with a Guwange/Galuda style bullet cancel mechanic and a shop system. The Arcade release has two new characters but other than that it's kind of a mystery as to why it hasn't been released yet. Wasn't it playable at the last AOU?

x2 sounds a bit crazy for that game.
But, maybe they just too lazy to optimize it. :?

It was playable at the AOU `08 show:

and at the JAMMA `08 show:

I am looking forward to AOU `09 apart from the Cave bell ends as seen at 1:53 in the first vid.

I think Deathsmiles is ugly and too easy :p But they fixed the difficulty with its black label so maybe Deathsmiles 2 can be not ugly and a good challenge.

They need to dumb down sprite details if they're keeping the exaggeratedly low resolution...

Trouble Witches is at HEY right now. I didn't see a location test sign so I assumed it was the official release. Looked pretty weak to me.

Senko 2 is G.Rev. ;)

sven, Trouble Witches is just Type X, see here. Unless they radically changed it (I don't know, I haven't been following), you can check the doujin version to know more about the game.

Ok, the only games I really care about are Senko 2 and KOF 12, but I guess I am morbidly curious to see how that pogo stick game is, and also the light gun Elevator Action.

The first one made it over, I wouldn't expect the 2nd one not to. Especially if it's for 360.
