If they aren't playing a shmup, a Ghosts N Goblins title, or something old school and extremely hard, I'd hardly call them Ultimate Gamers. :P

So TV really is never going to be good, is it?

It could be decent, except that I can guarantee they will play nothing but babymush crap if it's single player, and will make themselves look like scrubs playing multiplayer.

There are allready competitions for this kind of thing, they're called tournaments, and I'm sure any of those guys that heard about this crap just laughed and didn't want to be anywhere near it.

Publicity stunt, ratings whoring, whatever you want to call it .. it's going to be a joke. Wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was fake and all the "contestants" were paid actors.

Even that would be better than this .. at least it'd be fun to watch. I'm willing to bet Ultimate Gamer has 75% drama/petty reality show bullshit, 25% actual gaming. And I don't remember Nick Arcade taking itself seriously ..

This is depressing. The thought of a Nick Arcade 2 got me over it though.

Hmm, is this just video games or other types of gaming as well? The US had some pretty consistent high level console gamers back in the 90s when Blockbuster and other big sponsors used to host those national multi-game championships. I remember one guy in the early 90s placing 2nd at 1 event and then 1st a few months later.

The Rockband part was seriously cringe worthy, they should just lock them in a room with Daigo and a SF4 cab and make it so they're not allowed to leave until they beat him. Now that's how you create 'reality television drama'.

Followed by whining that ::insert pro fighting game player here:: has no life and plays the game 24/7, therefore they are still the winner.
