Heed the warning. Don't stand and watch. If you're standing, it's further for your jaw to fall before it hits the ground. More chance of seriously hurting yourself.

Are.. are those SPRITES? How are they so SMOOTH?
Seriously, SFIII has nothing on that...

/me wants this, and he wishes that there was a PS2 version coming out.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I'm actually not sure if they're sprites.

I like how the title of the article tells you the opposite of what the article contains.

They are indeed sprites. SNKP used 3D models as guides and traced them to help out with character forms and such, but the end result is completely 2D.

And this trailer is from a couple of months ago. The final roster added Clark, Joe Higashi and Shie Kensou.

Ralf's looking a bit...built.

Looks bloody incredible, probably smoother than AoF3!...Probably :P Has been a long time since I played AoF3 to be honest.

Can't wait to see how it plays!

I've been watching this game for a while now. The artwork is fantastic, as is the detail and animation. The chances of it hitting the PS2 are likely beyond slim, but one can still hope.

Oh, and all these redrawn sprites, yet no Mai. You'd think she would have been the first one to get the redrawn treatment, considering she's practically an SNK mascot (and a fan favorite).

Wow...this trailer gave me the same feeling I felt when I first started playing KOF games. This looks incredible!

I believe ports to the PS3 and 360 have been announced, but don't quote me on that.

It was confirmed for PS3 originally, but SNKP had said nothing about the possibility of a 360 port. I don't think that's changed yet, but I may well have missed an announcement somewhere.

It'd be stupid of them to release it on the one and not the other, though, given the superior online structure on the 360.

Pretty graphics.

As someone with zero experience with this series, what would be a good one to try out in MAME?

KoF 98 is what you are looking for. As for the video, it is very very nice. Looks like the SNK fans are going to get exactly what they've been waiting a decade for.

I can only dream of samurai showdown getting the same treatment at some point.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I've been following this for a while. I thought for sure that they were all hand drawn the first time around, then talks of cel shading started pouring in. Glad to see those were wrong.

I've heard quite a few complaints that the sprites like very cvs-like. I guess that's true in the amount of brighter colours, but also remember that these sprites haven't seen the evolution of shading that kof 94-02 has seen. I think it just means that SNK has always put more into their pixel shading than capcom has over the years, and down the road we'll see it progress even further beyond their reach.

So... Who's going next gen just for this title? And where's my pc port.

That looks pretty good considering SNK hasn't really created any new games in like 10 years.

^^ The Last Blade was released in Jan 25 of 98, so you're right, if we don't count those few days.

Been watching handcam vids of this being played in arcades and it still looks amazing like that. Even more so in that vid.

I still own KoF '98 on MVS, but some of the newer KoFs I just couldn't get into. Hopefully this plays as good as it looks. It's a pure work of art. Makes me wish Capcom would have kept SFIV 2D just to see what they could come up with.
