so I bought myself a sega gensis with the cd-rom attachment so I could play pier solar when it comes out but sadly I can't get it to work. are there vga cables that I can buy or adapters I can get that go from RF to VGA cables?

No, but you could use a device like a XRGB2 to do the trick for you. Do a forum search and you should find out.
